Scientific American magazine issued an unprecedented endorsement on Tuesday for Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, citing President Donald Trump’s persistent rejection of science-based policies and facts, particularly with regards to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now that Scientific American has issued it’s first-ever Presidential endorsement for Biden, we can expect Trump to claim that he has the endorsement of “Faith-Based American” magazine…
I come from a science-oriented family. We’ve got Harvard(2), MIT(3), UChicago, Stanford science and engineering grads in the family. Yet my bro, a long-tenured biology prof who mostly ignores politics, likes Trump. Why? Because the market is up and my bro is a serious investor. I think its really strange that sometimes I think money matters more to my bro than just about anything, even though he’s quite wealthy. If there is any hope that he will vote correctly!, it is an editorial from SA, which he has been subscribing to for more than fifty years.

That’s nice. If only votes were weighted by intellect, but that’s almost impossible to measure, and there are some really nutso smarty-pants folks out there, too. The real problem here is that this endorsement will have tiny impact. The scientific community is likely overwhelming for Biden and against Trump already. The typical MAGAt listens to his gut/bowels to know what is “right”, so they won’t give squat about this endorsement.
I presume facetiousness. Right? If not sarcasm, than you are low life racist scum who supports a serial rapist who looks down on our men and women in uniform. There could be paid Trumpscum/Russians here too, as there are everywhere.
PS: My bro described a bit above, is exceedingly nerdish.
Lots of non-scientists read or have read Scientific American. Plus, from their website: Scientific American has 3.5 million print and tablet readers worldwide, 5.5 million global online unique visitors monthly, a social reach of 3.5 +million and is translated into 14 languages.
Thank you, Scientific American, but don’t stop here. Take a stand against all Republican Senators and Congressmen/women fighting against climate change. It’s an existential threat also, just on a longer timeline than Covid.
A couple of months ago I saw a Donniesta posting on our local NextDoor community site that there was no scientific evidence that the wearing of masks had any benefit, so I did a quick google, found a peer-reviewed paper published by The Lancet and posted it for him. His only reaction was “who would trust that leftist rag!?!”
These people are totally divorced from our reality, many are not coming back. Take solace in the fact that evidence suggests that they are still a minority, just one that was allowed to rush the stage and take over the microphone. We can and will shut them up again…
