Schumer: Trump Is A ‘Despicable Man’

A group of congressional Democrats flanked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) at her usual Thursday press conference, with freshmen and party leaders alike laying out the grim realities of a country plagued by COVID-19.

So Trump upends his own Senate majority because he wants to buy votes. Things just don’t get any better than that.

I was really hoping for something juicier than “a despicable man” and “the keeper of the graveyard.” Pay your headline writer extra for high levels of unwarranted clickiness.

But on Wednesday, Trump blithely shifted the pressure back to his own party. “I like the larger amount, I’ve said that…Some of the Republicans disagree, but I think I can convince them to go along…"

And like parents poisoning their own children at Jonestown, the good little GOP lemmings in Congress will do whatever Generalissimo Bonespurs orders them to do, right or wrong.

Senate Majority Whip John Thune (D-SD)

Is the Fox News chyron writer working at TPM now?

I think Schumer should see if he can find an SNL or Daily Show writer willing to do some pro bono work. He definitely needs some zippiness added to his zings.

The Democratic Party is a big tent encompassing even fretters, hand wringers and neurotics.

“ moderates in the caucus feared that the American people wouldn’t differentiate between them and the White House as the obstructionists in the negotiations.”

With other people’s money, of course.

At times like this, it’s hard to believe Chuck Schumer is actually a New Yorker…

Chuck, you are much too kind. You ask “how low” can Trump go? I have a bad feeling that we have only begun to plumb the depths of Trump’s evil.

Are you suggesting there are Democrats who are NOT “fretters, hand wringers and neurotics”?

Well, Obama and then there’s Josh Marshall. That about encompasses it.

Whoa, dial it back, Chuck. Next you will say that they will ‘rue the day’ or something. Easy man!

Yes. I’d love it if he called Trump a frenetic shitparrot.

He just never learned that sometimes it is best to just STFU. The only enjoyment I am getting out of watching this is the misery he is causing the WH staff and the Republicans in Congress.

Ugh. Fox will put a pro-GOP spin on it. Every other outlet will have variations of “Those clowns in DC can’t agree on anything”. If Chuck wanted to own the news cycle he should have been a lot saltier.

“I’m not sure what higher number means,” he told CNN, “but I know sort of what the threshold is for what we can [get] Republican votes for in the Senate, and if the numbers are too high anything that got passed in the Senate would be passed mostly with Democrat votes and a handful of Republicans. It’s got to have a realistic range if we want to maximize, optimize, the number of Republican senators that will vote for it.”

Leave it to Republican Senators to incorporate the “rule” of a former Republican Speaker and disgraced, serial child molester. How very “Q” of them.

Right. Someone could inform such “moderates” that conservative voters in their own districts are not “the American people.”

Senate Majority Whip John Thune (D-SD) sounded unwilling to support a higher price point on Wednesday, despite Trump’s comments.

Senator Thune is obviously confused and misinformed about what Trump meant by “higher numbers”. A lot of that is going around.
