Schumer Throws McConnell’s Words On SCOTUS Vacancy Right Back At Him | Talking Points Memo

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on Friday repeated Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) words back to him verbatim: The Supreme Court vacancy shouldn’t be filled by this President.

McConnell-criminal can’t do it if there are republican senators that may, at this time, have some morals and grow a spine. Rest In Power Justice Ginsburg.

Right. And McConnell’s obstruction last time didn’t come when his president* was this far behind in the polls.

Before this, we were looking at a miserable time between now and 11/3. Now, we’re looking at something awful beyond comprehension.

Lookin’ at you, Mitt. Have you got any friends left in the Senate?

It’s the Republicans, Chuck. Soulless, amoral, hypocritical fascists.

May I suggest that any attempt of the Republican Senate to replace Ruth Bader Ginsberg by ramming through a nominee so close to this election or in the lame duck session be met with a Demoncratic pledge that any such action will result in an immediate impeachment of the Republican choice upon installment of a Democratic majority Senate.

I submit this because of the dreadfully inappropriate obstruction of the nomination of Judge Merrick Garland. This refusal to even give Judge Garland a legitimate chance to be confirmed should be met by an equally determined refusal to accept a new Republican nominee at this time.

I hope Schumer is prepared to go to war with McConnell on this.

Its Nuclear War time here. The Dems should simply shutdown the Senate until Jan. 2021, using any tool they can throw into the works. The first item on the 2021 Agenda should be an update of the Judiciary Act to expand the SCOTUS to either 11 or 13 justices, with the new POTUS nominating a new Chief and one or three additional Associate Justices. The choice as to 11 or 13 is up to McConnell.

What can the Democrats do to stop Moscow Mitch getting one last Justice?

‘Shave the majority’ (get defections)

that or make em pay for it.

Murkowski is likely voting no (it’s the Trump era), so four more defections would do it?

All the news, and the next 47 days of the campaign, have just been turned on their head with the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. If there is anything that will bring out every evangelical wingnut voter who has never voted before in their life, the prospect of ending the lib’ruls on the Supreme Court is that event. And you know Trump will nominate the Trumpiest judge possible.

I’ll put my bet on DC Appeals Court Justice Neomi Rao, who has voted to uphold every single thing these criminals have tried to do that has gotten to the appeals court. She’s totally nuts, so the Trumpscum will love her.

This wipes out Biden’s small lead in polls. Republican voters who were not enthusiastic about voting for Trump again just got their excuse to do it.

The election complicates everything.

Ginsburg’s legacy has become an election issue. Vulnerable senators are campaigning. It can take up to two months to move a nominee through the process.
