Schumer Signals Menendez Will Stay As New Jersey Dems Call For Him To Resign

New Jersey Democrats are demanding that Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) resign after his second federal corruption indictment in ten years.

Tis only right that Menendez gets some due process. Will be a terrific reason to discuss corruption and why we don’t want corruption in government - from Menendez - or from the Florida Man. Delay buys time also. Have we learned nothing of the poorly scripted departure of Al Franken? Yeah, I know. But let’s think this over first, please.

I wonder if Menendez was in corrupt cahoots with the Saudis and a former president. Let’s hold hearings. Would show the democrats in a good light.

Schumer’s response is looking stupid and corrupt. Gold bars aren’t a good look.

Of course Menendez will stay. Resigning requires a modicum of integrity. Thus it’s a non-starter.

“Reject an indicted Trump, but accept an indicted Menendez” is not a good look.

I am all in favor of throwing Menendez out. Let’s just look into the matter a little bit. At least in the US Senate. Perhaps use hearings as a forum to discuss when and why we throw people out of elected office. And to discuss why it’s wrong not to remove those who’ve failed the country.

I was thinking just the same. He can’t be forced to resign and of course his right to a fair trial and due process should be acknowledged. But Schumer lauding him and praising him like this is a big mistake.

Al Franken resigned for less than what Menendez is accused of having done. Dems set the standard for accountability for personal and professional conduct. Menendez, be a decent human being and a good New Jersey citizen!! RESIGN!!!

I have a feeling that Schumer will be having a change of heart over the weekend.

The images of stacks of cash lying on top of his Senate monogrammed jackets is chef’s kiss.

It seems as though this will be the biggest D.C. corruption case since LBJ barely escaped getting caught, as a result of what had happened wherein one secret service officer pocketed the soon to be legendary ‘Magic Bullet’ from the back seat of the presidential limo parked outside the emergency room at Parkland Hospital.

Seven months earlier he had had enough, met with White House security officer Joseph Shimon and outright told Shimon that henceforth, he himself would receive greater protection than JFK. Johnson’s relations with Robert Kennedy (quite negative since the '60 convention in L.A.) turned exponentially bad.

Until Clarence Thomas resigns, Mendez should stay in position.

Strange - Al Franken was asked to leave for much less than this.

Jon Stewart should be appointed! He would be an AWESOME Senator!

Kamala should voluntarilly resign and Stewart would be a fantastic vice presidential candidate next year.

Think maybe a jury trial could happen as well? You know, to make sure he’s guilty before he walks the plank?

ETA: And what does the JFK assassination have to do with allegations of garden variety political corruption?

Schumer signals Menendez will stay

What a fucking idiot, and that is in addition to being ethically deficient. And this is not something new either. We have know Menendez is a corrupt POS. Why does Schumer want to compromise not just the Senate, but democrats as well?
