So many of our institutions were not designed to function when a near-majority of the participants are willing to openly operate in bad faith. And, regrettably, I’m not sure if it’s really even possible to design an institution that can function under such circumstances.
I think they just like having a senator who gets his face on the news all the time. It makes them feel like they’ve hit the big time.
I’m still trying to puzzle that one out, and have seen no analysis or explanation that makes any sense. What does he think that will do for him? I don’t get it.
Maybe we can get back to Indictment Fridays.
First order of business, stop making concessions to the GOP.
“McConnell ultimately stood down, taking statements from Manchin and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) expressing their opposition to the filibuster as good enough.”
Don’t you mean expressing their opposition to repealing the filibuster?
Got to wonder what his voters think, doing nothing is doing something, or doing something is doing nothing.
McConnell ultimately stood down, taking statements from Manchin and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) expressing their opposition to the filibuster as good enough.
Wait, they’re opposed to the filibuster itself, or to its use and abuse? Or was this a wording error by the author, and they meant “their opposition to [eliminating] the filibuster”?
Either way, I strongly suspect that they’re as opposed to the abuse of the filibuster as they are to eliminating it, and if pressed even more so. So if Repubs abuse it to block bill after bill, I’m pretty sure that they’re “reluctantly” go along with eliminating it. What we’re seeing now is mostly political posturing.
Btw, who is the current AG? Is it still Rosen?
Never mind. Looked it up:
Republicans have relied on being bullies ever since Newt the Grinch and his farcical KKKontract on Amerikkka was forced upon an unsuspecting public. They have no goals other than tax cuts. The have no policy ideas, other than to cut regulations (like lead, chrome,PVCs, and mercury levels in drinking water) and they have no ideals or ethics or morals.
Stand up to a bully and they cave. Trump caved while declaring victory. McConnell won’t even bother with calling it a win. He has too many other dire issues facing his party, not the least of witch is the Wicked Witch of the Greene. The general population has tired of their schtick, major donors are rejecting the entire party, and I suspect they will have problems finding candidopes to run under the GOP banner.
Yeah, hasta la vista, Linz, you POS.
Linseed want the FBI to prove that the insurrection was planned by the Proud Boys before Trump incited the crowd (to provide cover for the Proud Boys!)
You said it.
For extra credit. Stealing it.
So McConnell and Graham have finally given up on waiting for a Democrat to resign, die or get appointed to something else by mistake…
I hope to hell LINDSEY is gone…petty little prick.
My guess is that he thinks the Dems have more to hide (Trump collusion, impeachment v1.0, unmasking, etc.) than the Republicants do. Call his bluff, Dems.
Optics and juice. This is at least twice now (see, filibuster) where Mitch & Chuck went head-to-head, and Chuck won without drama.
It’s working. Repubs-in-disarray.
+1 for this mot!
The attack on the Capitol is indefensible so, at the Senate trial, Graham wants to shift the focus to BLM protests – and he thinks FBI testimony will help him do that.
Has he said a word about the two FBI agents killed this week? I wonder.
If true, it means Lindsay has bought into the story completely and is no longer gaming the system. Lindsay is acting like he has forgotten just about everything his background implies. No better than a Boebert or a Greene.
