”McConnell reportedly said in private that he opposes any independent inquiry because he’s concerned an investigation could hurt the Republican Party’s ‘midterm election message,’ a sentiment some of his colleagues have already expressed publicly.”

Well, that and the fact that several Republicans in the House and Senate could end up in prison over it.

I expect McConnell to bail once indictments start dropping.

Officer Brian Sicknick’s mother is requesting meetings with all Republican Senators asking them to support the commission. Good for her!

If that doesn’t get Republicans to support the commission, we may as well just throw in the towel.

Won’t move a single one of them besides the two that have already declared their support

I mock silly reasons Joe Manchin has for defending the filibuster.

I expect a lot of republicans to bail when the indictments start dropping. They’ll suddenly realize they need to spend more time with their families.
When your coconspirators are being indicted and are cooperating with the FBI your family time becomes mighty precious.

Oh, and this little tidbit. Guess all that support for cops is fake.

Senator Manchin, calling Senator Manchin… You’ve heard the nonsense from the Republican side for the umpteenth time. You can’t have it both ways - bipartisanship requires TWO sides willing to honestly participate. Your vote, sir?

Naw, bipartisan just means you swing both ways.

Short answer is no.

Long answer - they know the truth and they want to cover it up.

In another era, shame would work. These guys don’t have any. Still, more power to her for showing them the way back.

I hope she asks to meet with Manchin and Sinema as well. After all, drop the filibuster and we don’t need any Republicans to pass this.
