The Senate trial may ostensibly be about Trump’s incitement of a violent putsch, but it’s actually addressing the adherence to the law and Constitution of GOP senators. Will they elevate loyalty to a disgraced ex-president about country and their oaths of office? Do they want to forever be known as supporters of a man who sought to destroy the Constitution and the rule of law?
Posterity won’t be kind to those who excuse sedition and treason.
