Schumer Asks McConnell To Subpoena Mulvaney And Bolton In Senate Trial

Good try, Chuck, but you might as well subpoena McConnell’s spine.

Their base doesn’t, but Democrats do. 2020 is going to be a turnout battle and constantly focusing on the GOP’s hypocrisy/cheating/corruptness is key to that.

The general toxicity of Trump and the GOP is also causing suburban voters to flee the party. Those votes may not necessarily vote Dem, but as long as they don’t vote GOP, that’s a win.

The advantage of having these witnesses show up is that John Roberts can rule then and there on their claims of (complete) immunity. For that reason alone, I don’t think Moscow Mitch will allow this to happen. It would be fun, though. Add in Rudy and you would have a real freak show.

I also want to hear from those two idiots with the “I’d Rather Be Russian Than Democrat” T-shirts…

about time schumer
start piling up a lot of legal stuff at McConnell’s feet so that it will be necessary to go to court.
lock down the procedure after the house vote and make them beg for it to come to the senate…
make them swim in the swamp they created till about april then gift wrap it all and hand it over to the senate with all the witnesses legally court approved available to bury trump once and for all, along with those who choose to cling to the blob till the very end

I agree, and thinking about the 2018 midterms does tend to calm me a bit. But there’s a wrong and a right strategy for everything on this level, and I believe that dems continuing as if republicans are acting in good faith is just flat out wrong. I was fully prepared a few days ago for an acquittal in the senate, but McConnell’s coordination with DT delegitimizes the trial so much that I think the only appropriate response is to withhold the articles and continue to investigate. SCOTUS’ decision to take up the Mazars case and Reo’s opinion that the documents can only be sought through impeachment give us all the reason we need to put the brakes on and say we’ll wait for the ruling.

He will.

Precisely.

Yep. And yep.

And, again: yep.

Or we could just grant their request and be done with them.

Sullivan of Alaska is up this cycle and he has a very formidable challenger in Doctor Gross. Sullivan made a huge mistake when he came out swinging justifying the dotard taking $105 Million from military appropriations for Alaska and putting it into the bullshit wall. He’s gonna have to be considering and reconsidering supporting the dotard by voting no on Impeachment when the evidence is overwhelmingly against him. He can bitch about the process as he and Lisa already have done and hope like hell that McConnell and Graham can conjure up a sham “trial” but in the end his vote will be noted by the people of Alaska.

True, except for the part where they lost the House of Representatives. A lot of people think that this was not a good thing for the GOP.

I hope Graham and Mitch choke on their bragging about how they can’t wait to be impartial jurors. I hope it’s like swallowing shards of broken glass.

Put Rudy anywhere and it’s a freak show.

McConnell is looking pretty smug. Although the House looks to add 15 more Democrat seats, it looks like the GOP will retain control of the Senate, only giving up a net of 2, possibly 3, seats.

Yes, but the entire senate trial will be full captain kangaroo political theatre. Why should only one side be able to pull stunts?

Mitch will promptly file that request in the Merrick Garland File.

How about the “Blacks for Trump” guy?

If the Senate repubs lose 3 seats then it’s a 50/50 Senate and Pence becomes important.

“Handy.” He’s never been important.
