And then Manchin shows the agreed upon Schumer plan to his donors, at which point the donors give Manchin even more campaign money and gifts. Then Manchin votes it down. Rinse, repeat.

Same, but I’m ok with Manchin getting the accolades.

Keep the House (hopefully) n the Senate, then the fun starts.

OT? Even as a kid I knew that was when The Beatles were steering into new territory.

We don’t know that yet.

What we do know is that unless Democratic voters increase the senate majority, then Manchin will remain relevant.

It’s a good sign that it was Manchin making the announcement.

(Full disclosure: You see that glass over there? For me, as long as there’s something in it, I’m an optimist about the subject at hand.)

Manchin is a fucking asshole. Period.

Did I miss the part where Manchin and Sinema agree to suspend the filibuster for this bill???

Yeah, I didn’t think so…

ETA: Or is this a reconciliation bill that only needs a majority? (still not clear)

Someone on a NYT FB thread said this means that Manchin thinks Democrats will hold the House and doesn’t want to made irrelevant come 2023.

Yes, this is the reconciliation bill. So McConnell can’t kill it directly, which is why he’s bitching about the computer chips bill in an attempt to remain relevant, after having preemptively removed the GOP members from all negotiations.

Manchin stands to gain more money and power by screwing the caucus over in escalating fashion time and again. So this will fall apart due to the typical abstruse, sophist aww shuckisms about to issue forth from his piehole in 5-10 business days.

And the deal is?

No deal!

There’s another version-- which I really like too-- by 801 w/ Brian Eno and Phil Manzenera.

Has someone spoken to Sinema?
