Senate Judiciary Committee member Adam Schiff (D- CA) announced on Tuesday his intention to place a hold on the nomination of President Donald Trump’s nominee for D.C. U.S. Attorney Ed Martin. In an April 1 statement explaining his decision, Schiff said Martin has “demolished the firewalls between the White House and his own office within…
Ed Martin is a complete lunatic, but any replacement is likely to be far more competent in carrying out trump’s campaign of vengeance and destruction.
Oh, the stupid do have their ambitions.
Count on Thune to ignore this hold and proceed. Then we will see if Schiff and his colleagues have the spine to start objecting to EVERY request for unanimous consent, at every stage, in every matter.
So plan on blocking the next and the next…much better than installing one willing to commit crimes.
Martin launched an inquiry to try to invalidate the pardons Joe Biden issued
I don’t recall seeing that in the job description. It wasn’t on my ballot either. It sure looks like a Gestapo tactic.
Definitely not American.
Since Trump has taken office, Martin has consistently gone after Trump’s perceived political enemies as he carries out the president’s retribution agenda.
“No one embodies Donald Trump’s personal weaponization of the Justice Department more than Ed Martin,” Schiff said in his statement.
Unfortunately, these are all good reasons for the sycophantic GOP senators to support the Ed Martin nomination.
The longer that all this goes on, the more it stays in the news the longer the news cycle on this issue lasts. It seems clear that this administration is normalizing using the power of office to retaliate and demonize those guided by the Constitution and basic ethics.
Meanwhile, approval ratings keep going down for this administration. If we can assist with that trend, I agree that we should. For all that, we know, the next nominee could be just as incompetent. They have connections.
Even symbolic opposition to the Trump agenda, when that is all that is available, is far better than supine passivity.
I agree. As in the case with Corey Booker, people find strength from others who demonstrate strength.
I keep wondering how many competent people will remain willing to go into the ETTD zone. Surely he’ll run out of contestants at some point. Or is that wishful thinking?
I’ve wondered why that wasn’t the plan from the very first crossing of constitutional lines. But I agree. I hope they’ll find their vertebrae. If not now, when?
There are plenty of evil people who are competent about it. But competency is not among trump’s hiring criteria, so he gets more clowns than people capable of carrying out his agenda competently.
One “Charles Schumer.” Wouldn’t be traditional. Would violate normal order. Not bippartisan! If we show them goodwill, they’ll certainly reciprocate!
The poor man is living in a nicer, kinder past, back when the Congress consisted of reasonably civilized people.
Surprise. Ed Martin hates old people too.
Ambition is about all they have got. Ethics, intelligence, compassion…not so much.
Well, the fuse is lit.
This is a sort of carpet price bombing of the US. Fun times at Trader Joe’s tomorrow.
Any news on the tariffs? Wall Street and the elite DC and New York law firms are already celebrating the idea.
