House impeachment manager Adam Schiff (D-CA) expressed no regrets when asked if he could’ve done anything differently in the Senate impeachment trial during an interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation” Sunday morning.
Cue the whinging from the Right about how this was nothing more than Dems being poor losers and insisting on turning over a legitimate election and oh, if this stuff happened, it’s ok because if the President does it, it’s not illegal.
So bring on November - let’s give them the legitimate election of a lifetime.
“It is within their power to make it a fair trial with four votes, with four courageous senators saying, ‘no, we’re going to demand a fair trial no matter what this president may say,'” Schiff said.
We already have 47 courageous senators.
But four courageous Republican senators?
That’s a task that would send even Diogenes screaming in panic for the exits.
Republican’s suffer from battered sissy syndrome.
It doesn’t matter what is proven, they like being beat up by Trump.
This is so they don’t have to take responsibility for the mess they have placed our country in.
Sometimes, people in power just don’t do the right thing, the just thing, the thing that shows integrity. But, they do the things that reveal their character.
We know the character of the Republicans in Congress and the Trumpists throughout the government and the country.
Schiff and the other Impeachment Managers did a great job. Bravo, Brava!
Legal scholars could argue the finer points of it, but there is absolutely NO way Republican Senators were going to rebuke Trump.
The real trial will take place in November. And the Impeachment Managers just laid a little bit of the Evidence before the Jury.
Republicans love, love, love talking about personal responsibility when it’s others, especially poor people, but they will never take responsibility for their own actions.
Murkowski was a juror and judge in this trial, and on the majority, no less. She could have easily done the right thing, but caved to Trump…and wants to pass the buck to Liz Warren for her own cowardice. Meanwhile, the defendant -though proven guilty -skates.
These people hang themselves with their own words. Probably the product of a guilty conscience.
Speechless with disgust that Murkowski had the courage to point out that Kavanaugh was not fit to be a judge of any court because of his actions and words in the Judiciary hearing but could not muster up that same rare courage when it came time to vote for evidence in the trial of the man who appointed Kavanaugh to begin with. The record of the dotard being unfit to hold any public office is there for the public to see if they are so inclined but she had to ignore that record as well as the massive amount of evidence presented by impeachment managers regarding just the Ukraine conspiracy. She chose the outrage offramp as it was called by Senator Sherrod Brown. Not mentioned in this article but she is now saying that Senator Warren’s pointing out that this sham trial will be Judge Robert’s legacy so ticked her off again that she had to vote against evidence because then the onus of calling witnesses and seeing documents would have been on him. Yes it would have. That’s his fucking job as presiding judge. Oh shit it is just a cold dark day here in Alaska. Too many damned Republicans controlling this place for far too long.
As a historian, that has always been a concern of mine. And it quickly went to second place behind the destruction of the Planet with a full Trump 2nd Term.
Our biggest challenge is to get others to TPMer-level of concern, while avoiding
Cynicism
Hopelessness (taken from @justruss)
Apathy
Ignorance
Negativity
The GOP is counting on the Cheating, to be sure…and they are counting on Trumpers…and they are counting on Gullibles…
But there are enough of us left to produce a wipeout number/percentage of voters to annihilate Trump (if he even makes it to the Ballot Box before removal)
There is a disconnect between Trump’s version (perfect phone call; didn’t do anything wrong) versus Republican Senators who acknowledge his “inappropriate” actions that, to their addled way of thinking, didn’t rise to the level of Impeachment.
As such, Republicans are saying there is no exoneration here nor vindication. So, we all agree on that at least.
