Days after the Jan. 6 Select Committee alleged that former President Trump and his allies “engaged in a criminal conspiracy to defraud the United States,” Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who serves on the panel, urged the Justice Department to investigate Trump’s efforts to push the Big Lie of a “stolen” 2020 presidential election.
Tallk about foot dragging, we have known about this phone call for well over a year. When is this man ever going to be indicted for even one of his many crimes?
Crimes is not something rich white men(*) do, so basically never.
(*) I was going to say people, but just yesterday I went to Trader Joe’s and they gave me a wine box to carry out my groceries, it was a Martha Steward branded wine called “19 Crimes”, so I guess rich white women are not off the hook.
My hope too. My concern is that there are so many, many crimes that they may feel it is necessary to investigate everything and wait until it is all complete.
I would hope they would put specific teams on each major incident and do charge him as they complete them when they evidence supports it. Time is running out, and they need to get indictments sooner rather than later.
That has been my running assumption. Let as much as possible come out through J6. They can take the political heat…it was their house that was under attack. Let it flow out until it cannot any longer (by any rational person) be deemed political and/or a witch hunt (the MAGATs will assert that no matter, so whatever). In the meantime, let DoJ squeeze the actual participants in the storming of the Capitol. And then tie it all up.
I do not have any doubt whatsoever that these folks are ALL watching the clock. But you would never know it by the handwringing…
19 Crimes is a Snoop Dogg wine collaboration, although given his friendship/collaboration with Martha, it could be. Cheap as can be and infinitely quaffable (says the girl with almost 1,500 bottles of other wines in her cellar).
19 Crimes denotes the crimes that folks were sent to Australia for committing. The labels are charming…various felons sent to Australia for one or more of said 19 Crimes.
There would have to be…and it would have to be done in this manner. These are some seriously devious (and legally armed to the teeth) people we are talking about.
@kimaanderson…I concur with your logic…and probably so does Adam
I am so sick of seeing Poindexter pundits saying that Gardner cannot be seen as being “political”. We’re dealing with Trump, a politician who broke the law. If the DOJ is investigating any politician, how is it NOT political?
Oh, and OT, but someone at Wonkette posted this hilarious pic:
I was a sophomore in college during the Bobby Sands hunger strike. Since I was in college just north of the Bronx a number of students showed up to class wearing black armbands in support of him and tangentially the IRA and no one in the administration or faculty complained.
I don’t know what inside knowledge of JD activity Schiff has, but it is probably more than we have. His comment does not bode well for the chances of TFG ending up behind bars - at least on federal charges. Everyone has been hoping that various state and local efforts might take hm down, but the resignations of prosecutors in NY raises doubts there too. There is scuttlebut that they resigned because their boss(es) were not going after TFG with any vigor. The idea that former presidents, republicans or rich white guys are immune must have a powerful hold, especially when TFG is all of the above.
