The Department of Homeland Security is resisting congressional efforts to look into a top intelligence official’s whistleblower complaint, and House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam Schiff (D-CA) isn’t happy.

Trump is using all of the legitimate and illegitimate levers of government at his disposal to win the election. I’m glad to see the Democrats are choosing to use some of the legitimate ones to which they have access to respond to it.

Just like the rest of the Trump administration, the Department of Homeland Security is the most transparent in history.

What? Why would the GOP want to cover up its proceedings?

They don’t want anybody to panic? …

Of course. What other reason could there be?

What compulsory process? Subpoenas? Like Trump officials respect those! Unless Schiff finally means having the Speaker send the House Sergent at Arms to force subpoena compliance, and make arrests if necessary, then I file this under the ‘sternly worded letter’ type of response.

Trump will tell Schiff to pound sand and that’ll be the end of it.

Next up, investigating the women detained by ICE who are being tricked into getting hysterectomies. It’s just sick. It’s like Auschwitz.

I love it when Schiff goes after these assholes - it is always so refreshing to listen to someone who can think and talk at the same time. It’s getting to be like a magic trick or a lost art.

We had a Jack Russel for 17 years who was as tenacious as a dog could be - we always called him the biggest little dog in the world. I think of Schiff with the same affection. He is probably the only being that could have gotten Kramer’s favorite chew toy away from him.

Can Congress force someone who is not legally in office to represent the office? Just asking.

Too true, but all those somebodies are in the administration.

Now what are the chances that people within these departments are dutifully retaining originals and otherwise taking copious notes with Comey-like attention to detail before these hatchetmen started chopping?

Seriously, Congressman Schiff, drag out the biggest hammer you have and use it until the thing is worn out. They may not ultimately comply anyway, but do not stop until you force their hand as far as is possible.
Fuck the DHS!

I think I have seen this act before. I expect the same results. It is beginning to look like judges rule, and by the time there is a decision, that is a final one, it is to late.

The politicsl process depends on the good faith of everyone envolved, and the judicial process on common sense and the law; I do not see either.

I think the real staffers have kept careful notes of what the political people have done.

the Department and its leadership are trying to conceal additional misconduct

Once you get them to appear and testify I have heard about some GOP endorsed interrogation techniques that are extremely effective so long as they don’t reach the level of intentional infliction of severe pain of the level associated with death and organ failure.

Water you talking about? Never mind, I’m board with this thread…

There’s a book entitled “The Ultimate Rape.” It’s by a woman who was given a total hysterectomy that was unnecessary. I’m not sure I go with the “ultimate” part. You’re at least anesthetized while they desecrate your body and you don’t remember it happening. But for sure hysterectomy without informed consent is a form of rape.
