The Trump/GOP strategy has become clear - confronted with the realization that continued stonewalling would only amplify the eventual revelations, the administration decided to simply release the Trump-Zelensky call transcript and the whistleblower report, and claim that the objectively shocking contents are actually benign. Claim that there is nothing there, that the documents don’t show what they clearly do show. Echo this message through all right wing outlets - Fox News, pundits, GOP operatives, senators and congresspersons. Repeat until folks who initially understood that the revelations are damning start to question themselves - “it can’t be that bad if all of these sensible people are saying it is nothing!”. This is magnitudes beyond the normal art of the spin. This is coordinated gaslighting, as an explicit strategy.

The truth is on trial, and the stakes never higher. If this strategy works, there is no limit to what truths can be subverted by coordinated bad actors. We need all corners of the media (except Fox News, of course) to recognize what is happening, and call it out for what it is. We need a few brave GOP Senators (Mitt?) to call a spade a spade. Impeachment must proceed, and quickly.

Dark times indeed.

The ‘deplorables’ are soon going to find out that they have been ‘had’ by Trump. Boy, are they going to have egg on their faces!

I thought the original report was that Trump pressured the Ukrainian President eight times to investigate Biden?

Impeach Barr. He’s neck deep in this (as the call summary shows) and his involvement in having the OLC issue their bogus hold on the whistleblower complaint was far more obviously corrupt than his Mueller Report skullduggery.

just publish the damn thing, let everyone judge for themselves

that cat is out of the bag as far as we know, let’s see it

we may be at the point that Olberman was talking about when he closed shop, where this whole thing progresses really rapidly. trump is a classic bully, and when pushed back my experience is that they tuck tail

who wants to bet that the merry-go-round pardon play isn’t being gamed out right now

Scrape the whole crust of corruption into the criminal justice system along with Barr – Pompeo, Pence, Mnuchin, Wilbur, and all the other cabinet members who will be shown to have been acting for their own benefit instead of the public good.

Except that this is a complaint that goes directly to the House Intelligence Committee because it has to do with things that are intelligence, things for which one needs a security clearance. We will hear the parts that aren’t classified and would put operations/assets in danger.

This is exploding fast. Real fast. I can see the RNC pushing him out by Christmas. President Pence appoints first female VP. And they start the campaign season with a new slate.

Crazy… I know

It has been very obvious since his behavior during the 2016 race exactly who he is. They like his bad boy behavior. they like his rudeness. They like his name calling, his mockery. They like their bully. and this Ukraine situation is just Trump being ‘strong’.

What is the substance of the whistle-blower complaint? Rumor has it that there is far more than one phone call to Ukraine.

What procedure is spelled out to impeach a cabinet member?

“And the idea that the Department of Justice would have intervened to prevent it from getting to Congress throws the leadership of that department into further ill repute.”

Any chance of hauling Barr’s enormous justice-obstructing keister in front of Congress to explain?

I don’t see the same endpoint as you do, but this story hasn’t been alive for a week yet! It’s wild as hell.

If the Banana Republicans were smart, that would be their plan. But who is going to tell Trump to resign?

Nope. Trump is done. Barr is done. Pence, done. Truth shall will out.

Pence should do the Spiro Agnew bit first, since he’s in on the conspiracy. Allows MoscowMitch to get a preferred VP in to take over when he kicks Trump out… Kavanagh’s free…
