House Intelligence Chair Adam Schiff (D-CA) found time to poke fun at Rudy Giuliani as the House inches closer to impeaching President Trump.
Schiff Smocks Shyster.
Problem with throwing ghoulsie under the bus is he just squirts out the other side. Bus gets a lube job, though.
I suspect Schiff, like most of us, would say they are both at the bottom of the cesspool w/ the main difference being one of them is president and an imminent danger to the nation.
Meyers asked him if he thought “Trump is a worse client, or Rudy Giuliani is a worse lawyer.”
I’m so old, I can remember when Lionel Hutz was the worst TV lawyer ever.
Those were the days…
“It was just another full-throated confession,”
Of course it was, and he and others will continue to do just that in order to prove they can get away with it, normalize it and push us over the edge into a truly fascist state.
“That said to me, this President believes he’s above the law, accountable to no one, can’t be indicted,” Schiff said. “He is utterly beyond accountability. That is too dangerous a situation to go unchallenged.”
Trump is unaccountable to the law. The Senate will acquit him. He will resume breaking laws. He will welcome foreign help in the 2020 election. And Democrats are powerless to stop him. There is no legal framework to reign him in.
If he’s reelected it won’t change, even if Dems take the Senate. They would need to win 67 seats to alter the dynamic and actually remove him from office. Won’t happen
Face it, Trump is a monarch and king, in every sense of the word. He faces no legal impediments to do as he pleases, at least so far as issues solely the purview of the Executive. Congress can stymie him by withholding money, that’s about it. Putin is free to help him all he wants. What’s anyone going to do about it? It might be illegal for Trump to accept or solicit such help, but should he win the Electoral College again is someone going to refuse to declare him the winner?
“You cheated, and we can prove it!!” means nothing. Nothing at all.
Adam Schiff is sort of Clark Kent-style mild. Underneath his unassuming facade is an intellect of steel.
Schiff isn’t wrong.
For my generations it was probably “Dan Fielding” haha
Man did I love that show when I was little…
He has always given off a Jimmy Stewart vibe to me.
I thought immediately of Jimmy Stewart during his “Its not OK” speech.
Meanwhile, it was a particularly good Closer Look on this episode of Seth Meyers as well. He had a bunch of clips of Trump stumbling over words and then said “What’s with all the slurring? This could be the first president pulled over for a sobriety test in the middle of a rally.”
I get the feeling schiff knows a lot more than he is letting on. He is too calm.
between him and pelosi and the house managers, I bet they already have a plan to throw the senate reapers in total defense mode while pasting them to the wall with undisputed facts.
Mitch will trip all over himself trying to keep it together. Watch Roberts do what he absolutely has to do to keep himself a non partisan participant in the eyes of the country.
The gop will have to accept reality and defend the facts put forth.
The cartoon show they did in the house won’t work here in the senate and mitch knows it.
Roberts knows it and Pelosi damn well knows it.
Trump will be convicted at the late night tv chat room trial, removed from his ratings perch, and disbarred from practicing comedy ever again.
In related news.
It’s how you roll a mob family: panic the soldiers, force them to freak out over “who’s flipping? who’s flipping?? should I flip first?!?”, get one or more to roll on the capos, who panic, someone flips, someone else implicates the Don.
It’s going to work, hair-on-fire doomsayers notwithstanding.
The thing about Schiff is that he’s not a bad lawyer himself, he’s a really good lawyer, and one way you can tell is that his snarking isn’t just to hear himself be clever. It’s tactical snark.
Your optimism is admirable.
I also hope it’s correct.
And contagious.
I’m so old, I can remember when Hamilton Burger (not to be confused with Hamberder) used to lose to that Mason guy every week.
This can’t be stressed enough: Trump and Rudy honestly believe Biden is guilty and don’t understand why this isn’t working better. So they keep engaging publicly in the exact crimes Trump’s being impeached for while every Republican is required to do their best Sergeant Schultz impression by refusing to see any of it.
To describe what Trump’s doing is to know he’s guilty and he’ll be the last one to see it. He doesn’t think he’s above the law. He gets all his facts from Fox News and is still waiting for the law to arrest Obama, Biden, and Crooked Hillary for the crimes Hannity talks about.
