Schiff: Hearing Will Detail Meadows’ Role In Georgia Pressure Campaign

Ahead of the Jan. 6 Select Committee’s hearing on Tuesday, member Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) told the Los Angeles Times that the panel plans to demonstrate then-Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows’ “intimate role” in the then-President’s scheme to pressure Georgia state legislators into overturning the election results.

I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s hearing. Me, and a few historians. (sigh)

Schiff is set to lead Tuesday’s hearing, which will focus on Trump’s pressure campaign on Republican officials in multiple states.

The cosmic coincidence of having two slightly principled GOPers at the helm during this insane time. Some of the craziest of the crazies are still costing Az taxpayers millions of dollars while Bowers and Katie Hobbs are the face of the sane resistance. In Georgia Raff and gang would not go along with the dotards subversion plan because there was no fraud but now are on board with voting restrictions based on that same nonexistent voter fraud in order to get re-elected.

Certainly I anticipate the DFP being dragged into court, but damn, Ginni Thomas needs to be talked to as well.

Let’s also hear from Cleta Mitchell.

Well, Meadows set up and ran the meeting. We know that, at least.

And here are the rest of the miscreants:

TFG

Peter Navarro - Director of the Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy a position created and dissolved for him.

John Lott – worked in the Office of Justice Programs within the U.S. Department of Justice under the Donald Trump administration from October 2020 to January 2021. Said “more guns = less crime.” Hired October, 2020, left Jan. 2021.

John Eastman – RETIRED law professor and “constitutional scholar.” Architect of the crimes.

Rudy Giuliani – Drunken Bonehead

Cleta Mitchell - (not attorney of record) After participating in a telephone call in which Trump
Pressured Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to alter the election results in Georgia (which was won by Biden), Mitchell resigned as a partner at Foley & Lardner. In 2021, she set up an escrow fund to funnel money to companies conducting a pro-Trump “audit” into Arizona’s 2020 election. Mitchell is chair of the conservative activist group Public Interest Legal Foundation, which is known for making claims of voter fraud. She has claimed that Democrats engage in a “very well-planned-out assault” on election systems. Prior to the 2020 election, she organized legal efforts to challenge mail-in ballots cast in the election. Mitchell has worked closely with Ginni Thomas, wife of Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas, in the Council for National Policy to organize efforts to keep Trump in power, and The New York Times reported that it was Mitchell who "enlisted John Eastman, the lawyer who crafted specious legal theories claiming Vice President Mike Pence could keep Mr. Trump in power.

Alex Kaufman - general counsel for the Fulton County Republican Party and as associate general counsel for the Georgia Republican Party in the 6th Congressional District. Alex Kaufman and his attorney father left the firm hours after he was unmasked as one of the attorneys who participated in the outrageous and potentially illegal call.

Kurt Hilbert – Lawyer for Marjorie Taylor Greene’s defamation lawsuit

Meadows was not what anyone would mistake for a smooth operator. A narrative that looks at his action in particular promises to offer plenty of clarity about just how the Georgia shakedown unfolded and why it so spectacularly backfired.

From what I’ve read regardless Trump’s sales pitch the officials in Georgia were going to tell him to piss off. It was doomed to fail spectacularly.

Yes. A mildly competent Chief of Staff would have strangled this baby in its cradle.

This is where we get more of the story about Ginni Thomas’ involvement in Arizona. No wonder the Committee wants to bring her in and question her about her alleged involvement with the false electors and the emails, especially if this is Adam Schiff’s part of the investigation.

Speaker Pelosi: “Kevin, do you want to have any Republicans on the J6 Committee?”

“It’s ok to include co-conspirators right?”

“Absolutely not.”

“Then I got no one.”

After tomorrow’s J6 hearing, Ginni is going to have a change of heart about her little chat w the J6 committee. Thinking no way she voluntarily goes in.
