Scarborough’s Epstein Conspiracy Saga | Talking Points Memo

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough has been on the defense since his Saturday tweets implying that the suicide explanation for Jeffrey Epstein’s death seemed “predictably … Russian.”

Wow. A lot of ink here for Joe Scarbrough. Would be nice to see this much effort (and length) in an article about what any one of our candidates is saying, about anything.

He’s a blathering talk-show host. The fact that he belatedly saw the light, after normalizing Trump, doesn’t make him any less a vapid airhead.

Scarborough’s repeated histrionics on “Morning Joe” are starting to get the best of him. Some of the others on the “Morning Joe” panel seem to strain to stop rolling their eyes at his emotionalism and interruptions.

Joe (and everyone else)

Shut up and then Shut Down your Twitter account. We all will be better for it.

Everyone else do the same.

Sure, by all means, serious American journalists should jump all over Scarborough for tweeting something “irresponsible”, and condemn “someone with a platform and voice as large as yours” rather than clown-wigged, raccoon-faced orange blobs of syphilitic man-babies with their itchy fingers on the launch codes, because, G-d knows, there are SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES from a morning cable host tweetering something.

I don’t care what that talking head has to say, and I don’t care what he has to walk back. Walter Cronkite he ain’t.

The phrasing of this story sucks.

There is nothing wrong with Scarborough’s initial reaction nor his clarification. The expression “tries to clean up” does not do justice to the clarification.

Secondly, the person responsible (head of the DOJ), William Barr, is not recusing himself from further investigation of what is a highly suspicious “suicide”.

OT I know all about Scarborough…but this story dilutes the good that the initial Scarborough reaction did

I must’ve been the only person to take it as Joe suggesting that since Trump admires Putin so much it appeared to him to be the way a Putin critic might ‘have an accident’ or ‘throw himself out that window, we could not stop him’ that sort of thing.

So I did not think he was saying The Russians Dunnit but that this mysterious death fit a ‘Russian pattern.’

Hope I have not muddled it again.

I’m having trouble seeing why Scarborough should be on the defensive about this. Epstein’s death was incredibly suspicious and, if by “Russian,” Scarborough simply meant unbelievably corrupt and, possibly, a result of orders coming from the top, he might be right.

On the other hand, if by “Russian,” Scarborough was implying that Putin might have directly played a hand in Epstein’s death, well that’s crazy. Putin would never order anyone killed. And why would Putin have any interest in our politics anyway?

Oh, and Glen Greenwald is a total POS as well as a Russian troll.

Greenwald calling Scarborough a mainstream journalist.

That explains everything we are now experiencing.

Looks like the TPM front-page editor took your feedback seriously–headline now changed.

Fuck Putin and all his sympathizers, especially Greenwald.

Yes. Not sure why Scarborough is having trouble with this. Why go on about baseball games and “The Godfather”?

I assumed he was not claiming the Russians were responsible, but that this was like something we would expect in Russia, not the United States.

I can believe Glenn Greenwald is a Russian tool but do you happen to ‘know’ that he is a POS? I just remember him saying that it totally WAS possible that Seth Rich leaked the Podesta emails to WikiLeaks (somehow after he died) and that appeared to be wishful thinking. But I just want to know if he ‘is’ a big ol’ jerk. (I gather he moved to Brazil with his Brazilian husband because he feared our government would go after him legally for some of the stuff he was doing. I wonder if he now finds Brazil less welcoming with the new Rightist government?)

It’s not Scarborough “having trouble”.

It’s Trump-like creatures, minions, operatives, Russians, trolls and politicians.

When I say the word “Trump” I am often talking about the incredibly strong machine behind Trump.

If we had an inkling of the breadth, depth and strength of this machine, people disinterested
in “boring politics” would become far more involved.

All a bunch of inside “journalism” baseball. Easy target for Greenwald, who nets himself some publicity while showing that he’s not a journalist any more than Scarborough is. Bunch of hacks doing it for the advertising.

Mysterious deaths are a Russian specialty. I immediately thought Joe was mocking, not reporting.
