SC GOPer Announces Run Against Trump After SC Cancels Primary

“We can’t let Trump distract us from billionaire tax cuts, gutting social security, and starving children.”

The media should stop wasting it’s time publicizing Republican challenges to Trump. They have 2 chances, slim and none.

That’s all he’s got. Sanford can’t talk about tRump’s family values, because his led him to resign from office after getting caught lying about where he was while cheating on his wife. He’s backed most of tRump’s ridiculousness. He supports his tax cuts, immigrant policies and general buffoonery.

Can’t alienate the deplorables. Who else would be left?

South Carolina cancelled its Republican primary to protect tRump. That should be the lede. Sanford declares primary challenge AFTER the GOP moved to protect tRump from challenges like Sanford.

Sanford was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. (So, you know, not his fault)

It may be common practice, but it’s categorically wrong.

Titles of elective office remain with the office.
Sanford may be referred to as “former governor Mark Sanford,” but he is properly addressed as “Mr. Sanford.”

Only the sitting governor is addressed by that title.

The same goes for former Representatives, former Senators, and former Presidents and Vice-Presidents.

I can’t wait for the debate when they argue over who’s mistress was hotter.

Yep, I didn’t make it clear. I meant it’d be better to refer to him as former gov instead of former rep, not that he should still be called gov. I think it will make a difference in GOP voters who haven’t known him yet. More credibility.

In totally unrelated news, the white house has announced the immediate and indefinite closure of the appalachian trail.

He hiked the Appalachian Trail waaaay down south when he was Governor. He’s done nothing memorable as a Representative, which is probably better for him.

Well, Sanford can’t really go after cheating on his wife, or foreign entanglements.

Actually, it may not be HIS decision to run. If you have Netflix you should watch this documentary: The Family. Sanford is in this and it explains his defiance and resistance to resigning when he was lost on the Appalachia Trail via Buenos Aires. This documentary puts a lot of the shit that is happening now and in the past int perspective. There were times I jut walked away fro my computer it pissed me off so much. The Family makes a lot of decisions we think politicians are making. It’s a cult of the worst kind.

The Family.

I assess this as just another washed up GOP pol who hasn’t figured out that the entire success of the Republican Party at the national level, since at least 1968, has been about tribalism. Nobody ever gave a shit about “minimal government” or “free trade” or “pro business” or any of the other twaddle that has been peddled to the gullible media over the last half-century. He also, to be sure, came up through SC Republican politics, which is about as smashmouth as it gets (remember the smears against John McCain in the 2000 primary), so I wouldn’t totally count him out. He could at least do some damage, which would appear to be his intent. I’m fine with that.

Restoring the moral stature of The White House?

True, but there may be a group of voters he can pry off Trump who, ostensibly, care about deficit spending. Weld can get the Libertarian leaners and the patrician Rockefeller Republicans if there are any left. And Joe Walsh, who is exactly the kind of cartoonish, tough talking blowhard that appeals to the MAGA crowd, can really knock the sap out of Trump.

None of them could likely beat Trump but they could each take a piece of him and leave him weak, weak, weak.

So I’m figuring that he waited till his state had cancelled the primary so he could take the moral high road (almost impossible not to against trump) while avoiding the risk that he would get resoundingly trounced by all the other candidates.
