Santos Finally Admits He’s Been ‘A Terrible Liar’

His faux contrition won’t save his seat.

I don’t know how oppo research didn’t uncover this in 2020. Jeezus, that’s Campaign 101.

For all the Performance Art of the House GOP (including Santos), the only thing that they seem to be accomplishing is acting like a Gigantic Campaign Commercial for the Democratic Party.

The angst, anger, disgust and dislike that they work on evoking daily is a bonus for us as well.

If he’s such a terrible liar, why doesn’t he stop lying? Do something you’re good at for Pete’s sake.

I’ll tell you one thing he’s good at: never breaking character. There really is no character to break. He’s a sociopath to the core. But there is no core. He’s a psychopath. There’s no frontal cortex in his brain. Just a little bitty nub of a brain stem that does the minimum to keep his body alive. He’s a decapitated chicken that’s somehow still alive. Yeah, that’s it.

Better headline: Habitual Liar and Criminal Congressman Admits He Never Thinks.

“I just went with it. If you’re gonna make up a lie, are you thinking at all?”

Nope: he was trying to think of a way to sneak MEGHAN MARKLE into the conversation.

“Have you met her? SHE made up parts of her life too. HORRIBLE woman. Enough about you, let’s talk about HER.”

And so, the Santos “redemption” project begins . . .

When all else has failed, he begins a new scam to keep his seat that has been jeopardized by being caught in his previous scams.

Yes, beneath the bathetic absurdity (and continued lying), this is a strategy targeting a Christianist base: confession absolves the sinner of the sin(s) and renders the sinner worthy again. Genuine repentance is probably not in this man’s DNA but working the audience most certainly is.

There may not be enough of the evangelically disposed in his district for this to work there but in today’s debased political climate it doesn’t necessarily take much to swing a seat. Then again he could always move to Florida.

That would be “move back to”. But I totally agree that a religious redemption born-again play might be in his near future. He’s proven he’ll say anything.

George Santos is on his way out.

The only response a Republican is allowed to provide the media when confronted with their nonsense or lies is “liberal media bias” with a snarl, full stop.

Piers leans right of center by British standards, but that’s an awfully tribal way to kick off the article. He’s a far cry from the Fox News evening line-up, so let’s not throw around right-wing.

Money. Power. Connections.

McCarthy isn’t going to go after Santos – or he’d also have to go after Ogles and Luna, shrinking his majority by three.

Welcome to the discussion but I must disagree: Morgan has not been an honest news broker for some time and is definitely not a ‘far cry’ from Fox as he is now literally in their lineup; e.g., Piers Morgan Joins Fox News Media: ‘I’m Going Home And We’re Going To Have Some Fun’

He means if he was better, no one would know they were lies.

Sure I’m a terrible liar but so what?

I don’t know about his politics, but he is a genuine asshole. He’s the discount version of Larry King. As for Santos-Devolder Whatever his real name is, he is an absolute disgrace. I eagerly await his being prosecuted.

Tucker will read a few of the thousand of pages and conclude nothing unusual happened because by now Fox knows what its audience wants to hear.

(Well damn, I wanted to post a supportive clip from Dennis Miller (before he went to the ‘Dark Side’) that was funny and appropriate as can be! Unfortunately, my Google machine can’t locate it, so I’ll just have to describe it… :unamused:

Anyway, it’s from the late 1980s (I think on SNL) after one of the christianist mega-preachers’ scandalous meltdowns of the era, possibly Jim & Tammy Faye Bakker and the set up was that, in the immediate aftermath of the scandal, the guilty-as-hell-preacher had publicly announced that he was “turning his life over to Jesus”. As Miller observed (to my best recollection)…)

"Y’know, it’s funny how no one ever turns their life over to Jesus when things are going OK; no one ever turns their life over to Jesus on prom night!

"‘[Quoting the preacher] I’m turning my life over to Jesus!’

"[As Miller] I guess Jesus didn’t see him first!

[Then, as Jesus] ‘Oh no, here comes Jim Bakker (or whoever the scandalizer of the day was); I’ll bet he’s coming to turn his life over to me…Taxi’!"

I said I wouldn’t read any more stories about Santos but it is rainy here today and I am desperate for amusement. So I guess Piers is granting redemption to Santos and Santos is helping Morgan try to gain credibility as a journalist.

Well, it didn’t work.
