Among the many explanations for his federal indictment yesterday, Rep. George Santos, the embattled New York Republican who’s been charged with fraud, has come up with a particularly novel one: He’s being targeted due to his vocal support of exiled Chinese billionaire and fellow alleged scammer Miles Guo.
If Trump puts in a good word, makes him his pet scumbag, Santos has a chance.
If he doesn’t, he’s dead. As Trump has no loyalties, it really comes down to his own private amusement, and that could change on a dime. Sucks to be Santos.
That playbook of theirs is well worn and apparently anyone can get a copy. DelSantos is probably going to the hoosegow but he’ll be trying to collect all the way. The grift never ends with these losers.
Undoubtedly, he’s going to be propped up by various oligarchs simply because he’s useful for keeping Kevin McCarthy afloat. If Republicans had even a 10 vote majority (instead of 4), Santos (née George Anthony Kitara Devolder Santos Rivanche) would be doing hand jobs for crack behind an adult bookstore.
Now we get an inkling of how he went from $55,000 income to just south of $1,000,000 in one year.
What’s the over-and-under odds on a superseding indictment of both Santos and Guo charging them both with money laundering, bribes, and influence peddling?
That is undoubtedly the conversation the DOJ is having with his attorney. Conversely, the longer he DOESN’T resign the tougher the prosecutors will get.
That would be smart but he isn’t that smart, and his role model is Trump who never gives up, never surrenders (insert Galaxy Quest clip here). I doubt he’ll resign.
For one thing, the longer he drags this out through the legal process, the larger the grifting opportunities. Something else he learned from Trump.
