Jesse Jackson’s ‘Hymietown’ Remark – 1984

Feeding Frenzy\ 120x79Rev. Jesse Jackson referred to Jews as “Hymies” and to New York City as “Hymietown” in January 1984 during a conversation with a black Washington Post reporter, Milton Coleman. Jackson had assumed the references would not be printed because of his racial bond with Coleman, but several weeks later Coleman permitted the slurs to be included far down in an article by another Post reporter on Jackson’s rocky relations with American Jews.

Just voted for Warren and I feel fine.

I just saw that and the statement he posted on Facebook, which is a good read whatever side you are on in these primaries.
It’s a different statement (more extensive) than the ones I’m finding on line elsewhere.
This link works for me but you might have to be logged in to Facebook for it to work.

They’re not voting anyway, correct?

So what’s really relevant is how Jackson’s endorsement influences older voters.

Was considering earlier:

‘It’s gonna’ take someone famous contracting COVID-19 for the government to take it seriously.’

My kids loved the musical of Hairspray with Zac Efron and John Travolta, so then we watched the John Waters original, which was a bit… different.

Jackson endorsed Hillary in 2016.
