Just a day after officially endorsing The Young Turks founder Cenk Uygur’s congressional run, Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) retracted his endorsement Friday afternoon.
Just an hour before Sanders retracted his endorsement Friday, Uygur tweeted that he appreciated endorsements like Sanders’ while also stating that he would not accept any endorsements because he “will not be beholden to corporations, lobbyists, or special interest groups” and “will not stand by while those groups attack my political allies.”
Which part did he have to do: endorse a misogynist or retract his endorsement because his supporters objected (even though Sanders himself still does not see anything objectionable)?
“My corporate Democrat opponents”…sounds like a Republican to me. Not a good look for Sanders to endorse someone like that, even without the misogynism the guy is a prick.
Really, the Democrats can do better than putting someone like this up, hopefully they find a good candidate and win Hill’s seat again. Really, her being shoved out was a travesty.
I see that this post is hidden due to responses by a few here, probably defenders of free speech
I also see that several people gave it a like.
For now I’m not going to retract a single work in this post and give a minority here any joy.
Bernie should retract his campaign. Now.
If there any parallels to be drawn from yesterday’s elections in Great Britain one is that voters, during difficult times, are unwilling to take a chance on the policies of the far left.
I know that Jeremy Corbyn is an unpopular, wealthy Marxist who is out of touch with the times but I think there are enough indicators there for both Bernie and Elizabeth to get outside themselves and reflect upon.
I used to like Cenk, back when he was talking about problem instruments in the financial industry, e.g., derivatives, options, … et al. But when he just began babbling “corporatist” at Hillary I got sick of him. Kinda like Bernie & Taibbi in that regard.
[ETA] I intended this as a ‘yes, and…’ reply. I’m not sure why it has been flagged, but I apologize.
And B.S.'s retraction had nothing to do with the fact that Cenk Uygur was a denier of Armenian genocide at the hands of the Turks. Uygur’s distancing himself from his previous position came only quite recently.
B.S. said, until just recently, that impeachment of Trump was just a “distraction”.
Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, the early front-runner for the nomination, gave his first direct answer on the question of impeachment, saying the House should carry out a “hard investigation,” but he warned that the political battle would play into the president’s hands. His stance put him at odds with some other members of the party’s progressive wing, including rival Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts.
Since the Armenian massacres were essentially the work of Ottoman sponsored ribal militias that were not Turkish but rather Ottoman Kurds and Ottoman Turks, not “the Turks”…
