Exactly. Joe will not allow this election to be decided by the house because the cult refuses to certify election results in some states or because some states disenfranchise significant numbers of Democratic voters for bullshit reasons, or if some states try to have the election decided by a corrupt scotus (I haven’t heard of that possibility yet but I wouldn’t put anything past the desperate r’s).
If the cult is to win the WH for TSF it’ll have to pass the smell test.

When he claims that “nobody” showed up at a 10,000 person Harris-Walz rally in Michigan that was live-streamed and widely covered by the media, that it was all AI, and that Democrats cheat all of the time, there is a method to his madness. Clearly, and dangerously, what Trump is doing is laying the groundwork for rejecting the election results if he loses.
It works in their bubble of relationships - at their church, at their club, at their coffee klatch: “Well, nobody I know voted for Kamala Harris.”

If you can convince your supporters that thousands of people who attended a televised rally do not exist, it will not be hard to convince them that the election returns in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and elsewhere are “fake” and “fraudulent.”

Agreed but that should be reversed in the report; i.e, begin with the truth, then report the lie, then repeat the truth.
Even those who read the entire article instead of the just the headline and lede, tend to have better recall of the lede and after time passes this can become the ‘fact’ of the report.

Even though Bernie’s dead-on right about setting the stage for denialism, it’s actually not surprising that Trump’s lies are getting more and more crazy and getting less and less tethered to reality. Basically, he has nothing that’s true that he could actually campaign on, and as he sees his lead disappear and Kamala owning the news cycle, he’s getting more and more panicked and lying more and more egregiously. Owing the news cycle and having “the numbers” is how he defines himself, and she’s taken those away from him. And she’s a woman, and Black as well. For a bigoted malignant narcissist, that has to be devastating, and it shows in his continued unraveling.

Trump supporters buy into his lies. He told them no Democrat could get more votes than him without cheating, a Democrat victory means fraud occurred. It won’t matter to them that evidence of fraud cannot be found. It won’t matter that a Governor or Secretary of State declares there was no outcome-changing fraud. Ironically, the bigger Harris’s victory, the more they will believe it must be due to fraud.

Trump’s bullshit usually contains an element that protects his ego as well as pursuing some other tactical or strategic goal and as his dementia progresses that element is probably only going to grow larger but it never hurts to remember that whatever that goal may mean to Trump, he now has many nominal followers who will use the chaos and doubt he creates to further their own authoritarian agenda.
NB: I despise Trump for many reasons but his abuse of language perhaps most of all. Fictions fuel imagination and goal setting – speaking of something that is not so as if it is or could be – and to see this powerful, human tool serve the kinds of small, vulgar, ineluctably selfish ends to which Trump puts it disgusts in a way it is difficult to adequately describe.
