Russian Doctors Say Woman May Have Contracted COVID-19 Twice

MOSCOW — Russian doctors say they are treating a woman who may have contracted coronavirus for the second time after recovering from it.

The same Russia with the outrageously low “official” death count?

That one?

Or the Russia that did extensive testing?

Russian Doctors Say Woman May Have Contracted COVID-19 Twice

How inconvenient. Open a window.

Yes, we really just do not know much about this novel virus. Needs saying and repeating. There are so many assumptions based on other viruses we’re used to dealing with but this may not be similar. It may be possible to get it twice. It may be that having immunity built up after having gone through a round of devastating symptoms it is not a sure thing. Herd immunity may be a much longer and more involved process in society at large, if it exists at all. So much is unknown and thanks to the flunkies in this administration that don’t actually believe in science, we may never know as long as they are in charge here. For once, Russia scientists and doctors may be telling us the truth from their own observations, after all this isn’t Putin talking.

I do hope this doctor doesn’t take an accidental quick dive off a three story building however.

Putin says, every time a Russian opens a window, a doctor loses flight.

I think we all take in new information and try to fit it into what we are familiar with. Trump certainly didn’t help by calling it “just like the flu”. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when someone tried to explain:
What’s a pandemic
What makes this “novel” virus different than seasonal flu
Trump is uninformed because he lacks curiosity. Trump is uninformed because he’s only concerned with “me, me, me, and oh look me!”.

Or, like my daughter and measles virus, her immune system isn’t capable of generating a sufficient immunological response.

No need to panic

Exactly. We have been in the epidemic long enough to say these cases, if real, are rare. So not the norm. And this time around, if she survives, she will have generated immune response and antibodies. That is the most likely explanation.

I hope she’s able to beat it without too much strain on her body. I wish everyone could…

There are a couple of cases out of China whereby the patients seem to have become infected again. Think relapse here; viruses do it all the time. The other side had a patient with ALL the C-19 symptoms, but tested negative for 6 weeks before finally testing positive. The type of test kit, the patient’s viral load, the patient’s own immune system all speak to a big unknown about this virus. Stay safe and stay sheltered until more is known about the behavior of this virus.
Herd immunity may never happen, but a viral vaccine with a potent adjuvent that kicks up the immune system to reactive levels may. These things are just not known about this virus yet.

Exactly, she may not have an intact immune system just like me. Vaccines come in different shapes and sizes like people. The university where I worked tried to vaccinate all of us that worked with blood against Hep.B. Three tries later, I still wasn’t immune. No antibodies in case you are wondering. So the university used a similar vaccine that my immune system had never seen (pneumonia) and I came up short in several subclasses. So while I am safe from measles, polio, tetanus, and a bunch of other stuff; I will never be safe from pneumonia or hepatitis. These are things we still don’t know about C-19. Maybe the people who are dying are missing a piece, like me.
