Russia Says Trump Needs Permission To Release Putin Call Records

“Of course their publication is to some extent only possible by mutual agreement of the parties,” the official said. “This is a certain diplomatic practice.”

“To be more specific, perhaps, diplomatic practice in general does not envisage their publication,” he added.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s press secretary, Dmitri Peskov, said on Monday that President Donald Trump would need the Kremlin’s permission if he ever wanted to release records of his calls with Putin.

That sounds like a dare to me.

Since when does the “Leader of the Free World” need Russia’s permission about anything?

God, what a pathetic loser Trump is.

Issuer of veiled threats becomes the recipient of veiled threat.

Will we get to see what the Russians have on him? Hmmmmm the screw tightens and the plot thickens.

Popcorn time.

OMFG. This is amazing! I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything remotely like this before. There must be some devastating stuff in there, for both of them!

The main goal of Putin, getting the sanctions removed, has not happened despite all of his efforts. With the help of Moscow Mitch, there has been some relief for specific oligarchs, but the big sanctions put into place by Obama are still there. He is not happy. What is his next move?

In fact, ithe mere issuance of the statement is an enormous blow to Trump. It makes him look like Putin’s vassal.

Holy shit! Putin is afraid of something getting out!?!?

Think about it: The Donald will bring down not only his family and immediate sycophants, not only white supremacists, not only the GOP party, but now Putin’s Russia!

This is like the Rapture for believers in justice!

Donald Trump acts like he needs Vladimir Putin’s permission before he goes to the bathroom.

That said, it is funny to see Putin becoming unglued like Trump. That is to make this statement is extremely stupid especially considering Trump’s base loves to act mucho and telling them they can’t do something without his permission shows desperation.

And it makes Putin look afraid, which translates to weak.

I can see why people might think this is tossing Trump overboard, but remember that we already know Russian calls are in the “lock it down” server, which means that Trump and Putin had at least one conversation that was considered troublesome. We don’t know yet who they were troublesome for…this reaction by Putin really implies there is something in there that he is worried about, otherwise he wouldn’t have said anything.

And, if he wants Trump to go away, letting the transcripts of their dealings out is a good way to sink him, because it will bring the Russian collusion story right back and show that Trump probably did something. That would sink the Republicans as well, Putin obviously has his hooks in them somehow and definitely doesn’t want a Democrat in the White House. He’s not going to let Trump swing when it will take the rest of the party with them, and damage his ability to affect American policy, so that’s why he’s throwing a rope out there…if he can’t save Trump (and I doubt he really cares either way), he’s going to try to save his influence over our policies.

It really is going to be amazing if this turns around and hits Putin, but that’s a real possibility when the transcripts show up. It might even affect his other international relations, and maybe that will be enough to weaken him in Russia, where he’s already starting to lose support of the people.

Not necessarily. No reason why Vladimir would have said anything compromising in those arenas, note the need for things like the Helsinki meeting.

Vladi doesn’t make those contact mistakes (Trump, OTOH, could certainly have blurted out something stupid).

More likely, I think, than anything like Trump’s trying to self-deal would be russkie demands or proffers over Ukraine, Syria or Iran that Vladi might not want to get back to his own people.

Maybe cue up the conversations from:

  1. The downing of the airliner over Ukraine.
  2. Their discussion after our SF folks killed a few hundred “mercenaries” in Syria without taking a casualty (take that, you commie bastards!).
