I would have thought that the cost of data collection to create a citizen database for Palantir would have fallen onto Palantir’s budget sheet instead of the public’s.

We’re no longer “moving toward an authoritarian government”. We’re there effectively. The Supreme Ct is blessing rump’s actions; Congress has ceded its authority to the Executive Branch. It can only get worse.
I fear the next elections will go to GOP candidates by hook or by crook – either by vote suppression or by gerrymandering or both.

A January 6 rioter who was captured on police body cam video yelling for police officers to be attacked and killed now has a top job at the Department of Justice.
Almost five years ago, Jared Wise stood shoulder-to-shoulder with other supporters of President Donald Trump during the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, cheering on the violent mob that assaulted law enforcement officers, breached the Capitol, vandalized the building and facilities, and disrupted the certification of the Electoral College votes.
And not only was this captured on video, Wise himself admitted much of it in court, NPR correspondent Tom Dreisbach reported on Thursday.
Wise is currently a senior adviser in the office of the deputy attorney general. A DOJ spokesperson told NPR, “Jared Wise is a valued member of the Justice Department and we appreciate his contributions to our team.”

I feel your pain but it will never happen. It’s a war of attrition at this point. Ukraine is doing more than just ‘holding their own’. Europe is buying American technology and armaments now and sending them to Ukraine. Europe is buying less and less oil and gas from Russia and plans to be energy independent in two years. Plus, no American troops are being killed. Hopefully Russia will simply implode in the coming years. It will be a sea changing world event. America wins, Europe wins, and China loses.

True. But I think you’re on marshy ground when you assume there will be ‘next elections’. If there are elections, I believe we can fairly claim they are rigged, that they are fake news, and that the piece of shit in the White House has stuffed America down his gold toilet.

This has come up before in this forum. And that is that one need not to be be some conspiracist nut job to recognize that trump and this 2025 project have been under preparation for some time by a loose cabal of persons bent on changing us into an autocracy and a tool of the fabulously wealthy.
