Rule Of Law Or Rule By Law? SCOTUS Gets Its Chance To Halt Trump’s Rampage—Or Greenlight It

This article is part of TPM Cafe, TPM’s home for opinion and news analysis. Four critical cases have reached the Supreme Court via its shadow docket in recent weeks. They touch on everything from birthright citizenship and unconstitutional deportations to funding cuts to programs the administration has labeled as “DEI” and the firing of federal employees…

Roberts is the captain of this ship of shit. I imagine the real purpose of all this is to drive America into a theocracy, and in that case, everything is good, economic despair, the works.

If you are relying on the current Supreme Court to save us, you are losing.

I remember when not that long ago people talked about Roberts having some concern about his legacy and that might have moderated his positions at times. If he cares about his legacy all, and about upholding the constitution, here’s his chance…

I don’t understand what is happening to the four zealot Justices. Forget them.

We need Roberts and ACB to side with the rule of law, or there is basically no rule of law in the country, and we may see the dissolution within a few months or years. My sense is that if the country were to balkanize, it might be for the best. It’s a terrible timeline, but I don’t actually want to live in MAGA-land or Gilead kingdoms for the rest of my life, with Trump as Big Brother the whole time.

Well, the Civil War demonstrated clearly that an armed secession to have a minority lop off part of the country by violence doesn’t work.

Rather than live through a CWII, perhaps a peaceful
divorce of Red States from the USA can be negotiated.

Hideous to contemplate, but it is better than the apparent alternative toward which America seems to be sliding.

Donald Trump has nothing to lose and everything to gain whatever the Court decides.

If in all 4 cases the Court rules against Trump, he may have to follow the law like all previous presidents.

If in any, let alone all, of the cases the Court rules for Trump, he has become by far the most powerful president in American history.

He probably doesn’t want to be known to history as the Chief Justice who ended the American Experiment, but the Devil never gives you what you expect when you make the deal.

SCOTUS Gets Its Chance To Halt Trump’s Rampage—Or Greenlight It

And off course the totally corrupt John Roberts took the opportunity to greenlight it.
