Attorney General Bill Barr and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross asked Speaker Nancy Pelosi to delay a House vote scheduled for Wednesday evening holding them in criminal contempt of Congress for not complying with census-related subpoenas.
The delaying tactic isn’t going to work. They’re going to fold, eventually. This means that both Ross and Barr are thinking about a post-Trump survival.
I wish Pelosi would tell them, “If you don’t like the way we do things in an American democracy, why don’t you two go back to where you came from. You know, Trump’s ass.”
There is nothing for them to offer other than capitulation to the requests. Please let this not be another Charlie Brown, Lucy, and the football moment.
It feels like the efforts to get the Mueller report and taxes have gone from extremely slow, kinda forward progress to stalled and yesterday’s news.
Holding the administration accountable on the census issue… they’ve given nothing. Give them nothing.
The WH and DOJ would like to delay this vote until after Wilbur Ross falls terminally asleep or dies. This is a Constitutionally-mandated Article II courtesy.
Barr, Ross and everyone in the Trump Administration have been directed by the racist criminal Trump to obstruct every effort by the House of Representatives to conduct its Constitutional obligations to exercise oversight and legislative inquiry regarding the Executive Branch. This is merely another illegal attempt to further obstruct, and Barr and Ross are as criminally liable as Trump.
Gee, you’d think that for such a supposedly innocent and reasonable process of adding a question to the census, they’d have already complied with the subpoena instead of asking for more time. And here I thought these folks always believed that if you have nothing to hide, you comply with law enforcement, just like they expect all those innocent and unarmed black men to do when guns are pointed at them.
