Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) took a veiled shot at President Donald Trump’s delayed response to the COVID-19 pandemic on Tuesday night.
“We didn’t look real strong, and that’s kind of an understatement.”
And so is that.
As much as I thought, after the Salt Lake City Olympics, this guy would be a great candidate, I no longer believe so. He’s demonstrated that he has a little more courage than some others of his party to speak out, but this is pussy-footing at its finest.
Romney has little to lose by speaking out - he’s significantly more well off than Trump and the Mormons of the great State of Utah will keep him as Senator for as long as he wants the job, no question.
So take advantage of that platform, call a spade a shovel, and smack Trump over the head with it.
I ask the question yet again: What the hell is everyone so afraid of?
“We didn’t look real strong, and that’s kind of an understatement,”
Extraordinarily cuckish even by Republican cuck standards.
Oooh. How bold and brave you are, Mitt! Someone must have put chocolate syrup in your glass of milk this morning! You daughter doesn’t have the stones to address Trump’s failings, but she comes closer to it than you do.
Well yeah but for the Cult Leader that Trump is this comment is like if he had stated that Trump’s mother morals were as loose as his own.
That’s right.
Romney really has nothing to lose, now, yet he cannot bring himself to say it strongly. What is he afraid of, being seen as impolite? People are dying because of Trump’s maladministration; Romney is a smart guy and knows this.
Weakness – still angling for some Trump voters, I guess.
Romney may have the greatest gift for making spittle and froth fly in irrational and uncontrollable fury from Rump’s mouth than anyone else living.
Looks like Mitt graduated from the Susan Collins University majoring in Advanced Concern.
Romney has no real teeth. They are white and attractive, but they lack bite. He eats and speaks mush.
At least he is pushing back a little! No other Republican senators are. Look at Graham and Cruz. They are the biggest suck ups ever.
All that matters to Romney now is Utah.
Utah, according to the Johns Hopkins site, has 4300 confirmed cases and 370 hospitalized. His State is not being overwhelmed (maybe SLC, but not sure). A .94% fatality ratio indicates they aren’t getting swamped on this.
He really has nothing to lose. He’s still a coward, but less of one than most of the GOP.
“The speed of our response looked slow compared to other people,”
Our response didn’t look slow, it was slow.
Romney made sure to mention he was “not blaming this administration,” but also that “the federal coordination has been less than my personal style.”
The key to leadership, Mitt, is for the administration, under the direction of the president, to coordinate the federal response. So if you are not blaming the administration then who is your choice for scapegoat.
The internment camps scheduled to open January 21, 2021, pending the outcome of the election.
‘We Didn’t Look Real Strong’
Sadly, this is what passes for decisive leadership in the GOP these days.
Man, Trump must really hate the internet.
A slightly modified tweet from Trump in 2014, adjusted for today.
“The key to leadership is recognizing you’re not the smartest guy in the room,”…
Well, you might just as well stop right there, because that will never change.
This, too.
“My gut tells me more sometimes, than anybody else’s brain can ever tell me.” By that metric it would take a world class sumo wrestler to match Trump’s brainpower. The fabled “somebody sitting on their bed that weighs 400 pounds” wouldn’t stand a chance.
