“I made that commitment when I ran for office, and I intend to honor that commitment,”

The “sane” Republican says no evidence or dead bodies will change his mind.

Please stop with all that shit about Mitt Romney being some sort of noble, sane, caring “moderate” Republican who cares about this country. Mitt Romney cares about Mitt Romney. And his car elevators, of course.

Occasionally he says or does something you have to acknowledge is more or less sane. That tends to stand out in bold relief but there’s no need to gush over it. He was always a pander-bot. He showed a sane concern for his own safety that day a few months ago, and was offended to have it jeopardized. The safety of the rest of us not so much. And “more expansive” background checks? Does that mean expanded to everyone? And if it does could we say so?

Only a state wide problem, so yup, let’s just go after the problem state by state. Guns can’t jump borders and the biggest winger states will not make stricter laws, so yeah, state by state will do the trick.

Many years ago when my son was very young we were driving downtown. There’s a Latter Day Saints temple very close to the sidewalk, at an intersection with stop signs. Sitting there a moment he said, “Hey dad, look at that”, laughing. I peered through the passenger window, and there, posted on the front door to the temple, was a sign reading “No Soliciting”. This kid is like 7 at the time. Really woke me up to how much he paid attention to things.

The thing is that Romney’s impeachment votes were noble, he IS sane, and next to the rest of his party he IS moderate. That’s the story here, that this is what passes for noble, sane, and moderate among today’s Republicans.

One of those defining moments. He’s not stupid and he should have known Trump would gloat over him and send him away with nothing. And that’s Mitt’s trouble. He’s not very mindful of his dignity. He figured he’d grovel and crawl and maybe that would get him a cabinet position. He does that with his potential voters; why not with Trump?

When politicians take these positions they are saying that all of the deaths that occur over and over and over are an acceptable price to be paid for their interpretation of the 2nd Amendment. That is DEPLORABLE.

A republican told me that “People, not Guns are the problem” so this explains why the GQP is trying to stop people from voting and also why guns have a right to vote and own property in Texas. It’s a very progressive state in that regard.

Imagine how boring it would be if you couldn’t just pick up a gun and kill a bunch of people in cold blood. Is that really the kind of nation you want to live in?
