Just a couple weeks ago, President Joe Biden was signing the debt ceiling deal he’d forged with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) into law, prompting a communal sigh of relief as we skirted economic catastrophe.
Fixed it.

The GOP has become a circular firing squad. Unfortunately, they don’t have live ammunition.
They can’t reduce defense spending, because that’s where this whole propaganda/evangelical shitstorm is funded from - between the defense and the oil boys, we have some of the dumbest Americans in history with their hands on the tiller.
Audit the Defense Department and you will catch them all like jumping jacks.

We’ll see. These guys gave in on the biggies of electing McCarthy and the debt ceiling limit. Shutting down the House over a messaging bill going nowhere fast was shallow, performative nonsense.
And at any point (as with the debt ceiling) a few sane-ish republicans plus the democrats can pass a CR that avoids this crap, or the senate can simply modify a stupid CR and send it back.
I’m a little surprised at the gotta-have-a-budget provision, because some previous republican congresses have gone well over a year with only CRs.
(Also assuming that the democrats have already written the necessary shell bills to do discharge petition on.)
No where near big enough to hold all the bullshit from these house Republicans.
Meanwhile the house voted on a bill that would provide subsidies for Florida citrus growers who have been hit by a bad harvest. Where citrus goes to rot…

I look forward to McCarthy once again side-stepping the shitshow of the Freedumb Caucus and resolving this.
But I look forward more to when they finally catch on and all republicans show their idiocy to their voters again.

I am a progressive liberal But…I am a very conservative person when it comes to saving and investing my money. Republicans are NOT Conservatives. They are not rational people. They live in a chaotic reality run by the Trump Q Cult. The worst of them support Chaos.
I’m making a prediction of a government shutdown of at least a few days until the Freedom Caucus can be hammered enough by the GOP corporate and financial bigwigs to resolve it.
These 40-odd clowns in the House are desperate to do something, anything to wield their supposed power, and so far they haven’t done squat since the R’s took the House. They fumbled the debt limit raise and came up empty on Hunter Biden. They can’t even get a President Biden impeachment underway.
A government shutdown is their last chance this year to stage a hissy fit. God Forbid they should pass any actual legislation, it’s all about performance art.
