Lightweights! If things work out as planned (they never do), my wife and I will be driving the last of our worldly goods to our new house on a cross-country road trip from the Seattle area to Miami FL. Probably our last big road trip at our age.
No fear of flying, we just want to keep this car and I’m afraid to move our best musical instruments any other way. My wife is already plotting a route based on Cracker Barrel stops (not my thing but I’ll survive it).
Sadly no, our last cats went to kitty heaven a couple of years ago. We knew we had to sell this house and move, and didn’t want to traumatize new ones with that drastic a change. New fluffy companions will be one of the first things we get after we’re settled.
I’m a second generation Miami native, grew up there and lived most of my life there before retiring out here to the PNW. We’re moving back because that’s where the grandkids are. And yeah, I know from bugs. We used to go out to the middle of the Everglades for stargazing, equipped with mosquito coils. What’s new are invasive anacondas and iguanas. We’ll cope. Iguanas are edible!
This loose confederation of states is going to be full Mad Max by August. It’s already a madhouse presided over by an evil clown with worsening dementia.
@zenicetus, have a safe trip. As I recall, the roast beef at Cracker Barrel is good enough. Watch out for stormy weather; tornado season is coming in the midwest. Hope all goes well for you in Fla.!
Tell me about it, Darr. He may not be insane, but if he isn’t, he does a damn good imitation of someone who is. The congressional Republicans could stop this tomorrow, or at least start the wheels moving.
Last Sunday I was booked on a United flight from Las Vegas to Newark Liberty. It was supposed to board at 3:15 for a 4PM take off and arrival time around 11PM. The delay was due to what was called “staff unsuitable for flight”. The flight didn’t board until 6:30 PM didn’t take off until 7PM, arriving at just before 2 AM. Part of the reason for the delay was due to Newark Liberty has a runway down for maintenance.
Yes, connect Trump to Repubs generally! I suspect a lot of Dem pols realize this and are setting up (or trying to) their Repub colleagues in Congress for a fall. They’re looking ahead to 2026. I think we need to do both: expose Trump and make sure people see how Repubs have attached themselves to him.
Already taken by Massachusetts and Maine. Third Monday in April (always close to April 19, the date of the Battle of Lexington and Concord). State holiday. Also has some kind of status in Wisconsin and Florida. Of course, MA could change the name to Boston Marathon Day.
