Roger Stone Is Sentenced | Talking Points Memo

Trump’s longtime friend and political adviser, Roger Stone, will be sentenced today by Judge Amy Berman Jackson. Prosecutors initially suggested that he should serve 7–9 years in prison for false statements to Congress and the other ways he meddled with the House Intelligence Committee’s Russia investigation in 2017 and 2018. But the case has become a flashpoint for concerns of presidential influence over the Justice Department. The DOJ last week watered down its sentencing recommendation, prompting the entire team of career DOJ attorneys who had been leading Stone’s prosecution to withdraw from the case.

While we are waiting Susan Collins is *very *concerned again and she wrote a big, bad letter

Well, then, never say Susan Collins doesn’t do anything then. Writing concerned finger-wagging letters is something

:smirk:

I don’t think a countdown will be necessary - I think it’s immediate and without any delay.

Over/under on how many hours before the pardon drops?

This is Shitgibbon’s version of grabbing Justice by her pussy.

Get it over with and bury it with 8 more months of distracting bullshit.

Seven to nine is just fine.

This piece seems to suggest that a pardon is in the offing.

I’ve been a pardon skeptic, but news is news.

What a country! The President supporting the criminal! MAGA! And he has the support of 30-40% of the voting public!
I am begining to wonder what is there left to save.

Meanwhile, here’s a quote from Gat Fatsby at his Adderall rally last night …

“Remember the dog, great dog, Conan? When we took out - right? We love Conan. Conan’s a tough dog. But when we took out Al-Baghdadi, Conan, remember this? Conan got more publicity than President Trump. That’s OK.”

Frog march this lame MF directly out of the Courthouse into custody and jail.

I’d seen this one with Liberty.
But Justice would make great GE imagery.

If I was the judge I would give him a sentence based on the original prosecutor recommendations.

If Benadick Donnie pardons him, at least it makes a statement that Benadick Donnie is supporting the activity of criminals.

I hope he’s dumb enough to pardon and not just commute the sentence. That’s why it hasn’t been done yet.

Give him the chair.

The actions of a corrupt executive branch should have no bearing on the actions of the judicial branch. If he wants to pardon Stone, he has the absolute power to do it. The judge has no obligation to comply with the demands of an chief executive who wants to normalize corruption.
We will soon be bombarded with people whining about how the Left is trying to say that the President doesn’t have the right to do what he did. Our job is to call it what it is: corruption and abuse of power. Each one of us has the “power” to do things that we don’t do because we are decent human beings. The fact that the GOP wants to defend someone who is not a decent human being is not a reason for the rest of us to stop being outraged.

This Judge has already proved herself. She’s going to do what she’d do if none of the fanfare or political influence was present. Hard to guess…3 to 5 years with a long probation. Which will be appealed until a wingnut Judge tosses it all.
