Women in both parties and independents favor reproductive rights including abortion access. The grass roots may think this is smart politics but the majority of voters don’t.

The Democrats need to counter by going on the offensive with bills to protect sexual freedom: access to abortion and contraceptives, protections for LGBTQ people, right to privacy, and anything else they can think of. If Republicans want to show a contrast between the parties, then let’s do it. Let’s REALLY give the American people a choice!

But at least that time some may’ve still had family members there. Granted it was about 100 years later, but the slave trade continued well into the 1800s.

Not likely. The region that became Liberia wasn’t a big source for the slave trade. And by the 1850s, pretty much anybody who shipped over to Liberia was a native-born American. There were and still are pretty serious conflicts between native populations and their colonizers. Liberia ended up being deeply influenced by American society, both for good and a lot of ill.

A fine illustration of that guy as the complete salesman – he makes noises that he thinks are appropriate to the topic and will be positively received by his audience. He doesn’t know, or give a damn, about the actual meaning of the noises that he makes. Truth doesn’t exist. Making the sale is the only thing that exists, it’s all that matters. If saying something helps make the sale, it’s good. If it doesn’t, it’s bad. End of story.
