When Bob Phillips heard that a wealthy New York City gym owner was prepared to donate $1,000 to his good government organization, Common Cause North Carolina, he was elated.

Hopefully they will do such a poor job that their attempts will be obvious. It’s already a given that the GOP will be claiming massive voter fraud.

Looks like the old Republican go-to tactic (If the truth won’t do, lie) has a corollary, ‘if behaving honorably and fairly doesn’t work, be underhanded and cheat.’

A mysterious gym owner from NYC named Jim Fortune. Maybe that should tip people off?

OK. Where’s the FBI on these matters?

It is a terrible alias. On the other hand, I’ve known people in real life with the last names of Person, Strange, and Trust. So it is definitely still hard to know from a name if it’s made up. (those ones were not…)

HOPEFULLY they will be caught and prosecuted. Project Veritas should be forever disbanded. THEY are the frauds.

The last part of Andrea Bernstein’s recent Trump, Inc. podcast episode, Block the Vote, discusses secret in-person and phone meetings by officials involved in managing state elections in GOP-controlled states with DoJ officials of various stripes, DHS officials, WH lawyers, and GOP operatives. While Trump, Inc. doesn’t fully untangle the story–none of the state elections officials would talk to them about the secret meetings–they do manage to make a strong case that the legal strategies we’ve seen (to do things like limit ballot drop off boxes to one per county) are coordinated, probably by the WH campaign lawyers. It’s a fascinating piece of reporting and no doubt at the heart of the Trump campaign’s work on voter suppression and challenging the legitimacy of this election.

Anyways, I mention it because the attempts to create vote fraud of various kinds outlined in this article seem coordinated and I wonder if any of the state officials involved in the WH’s attempts to suppress the vote–which are apparently promoted to the state officials as a government project to reduce vote fraud–overlap with any of the people/groups infiltrating Dem voter registration and GOTV groups? It seems perhaps likely that there’s crossover, even if people like O’Keefe are kinda kept at arm’s length from GOP officials.

At some point they will figure out that directly performing fraudulent acts themselves - lifting or vandalizing ballot drop boxes, or maybe dropping scores of illegal or duplicate ballots, just to gum up the works - is easier than trying to trick other people into doing it, and is just as effective to “prove” Trump’s claims that mail in voting is rife with fraud. Trump’s protestations may end up being self-fulfilling, because he has an army of honorless sociopaths willing to break the law to make anything he says become truth.

Create fraud where none exists - and then document the fake fraud you yourself have created.

It curiously reminds me of a sign I saw driving through some small towns long ago, “Antiques - Made While You Wait”

Don’t worry, Faux News and the GOP state media ministry of disinformation has been ALL OVER helping promote this fakery…

And oh look who’s also involved…

In all fairness, he came with an excellent reference from Bernie Bernstein at the New York Times.

About time Joe.

Former Vice President Joe Biden’s presidential campaign will “dispatch several hundred newly trained volunteers to engage voters across Nevada, Michigan, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania” this weekend and is expected to expand the effort into other battleground states, The Associated Press reports. The campaign previously held off on in-person canvassing efforts amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
