I was in NYC, my TX drivers license had expired, which I didn’t notice because I didn’t drive, my SS card had been stolen from my apartment (long story), and then I lost my wallet during the Great Recession.
Try finding a job with that.
The first step was getting a new SS card. That was impossible. Every time I’d go in with expired ID, they told me I needed something else. They said medical records, Bates stamped. I went in and got myself tested for STDs and innoculated against some Hep strain.
Nope, those didn’t work. Neither did many other things. It sucks being out of money, out of work, and no ID so you can’t get new work. I’ve been there.
Finally, I went to East Texas over the holidays, and I went into the SS to get a temp form, then went to a BFE DL office with a family friend who used to be a constable and knew people and vouched for me.
It’s infuriating, but sometimes you need to get creative.
The Feebs could not come up with probable cause that the threats came from the kid. That’s going to make it pretty tricky, as a matter of evidence, to introduce those facts at trial. Even if they get it in, the defense will drive the reasonable doubt truck straight through that wide open barn door.
If the FBI couldn’t conclude the kid was a school shooter, why should the dad?
After all, the kid was perfectly entitled to possess that AR under Georgia law.
And I posted about this same type of situation the other day. A18 year old who had two incidents of mental illness growing up buys a gun and wants to become a “famous school shooter”. Mother tried to stop him, the police talked to the mother and the son. The kid couldn’t pass the FBI check, so he bought his gun from an individual seller that doesn’t have to go through background checks. Missouri has no “red flag” laws. Kid shoots up a high school and kills one student and a teacher.
G-D Republicans in the legislature want guns everywhere, but decry about all the gun violence.
