A series of polls released in recent days indicate the House-passed “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” is broadly unpopular with the majority of Americans…

Republicans say “So?”

It’s hard to believe, but it just keeps getting worse. The Constitution is being shredded every day. Stop voting for Republicans!!!

What voting ? The whole idea is to prevent voting. I seriously doubt there will be midterm elections :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

The KFF’s poll also showed high support for Medicaid work requirements, with 68% saying they are for it.

This is insane. Let’s leave out the fact that people who really need health care are probably people who have trouble working, and focus on what this actually says: if you do not work and provide labor for society, we will actively try to kill you. There’s a term for that, slavery.

Edit: insert long rant here about how our culture values people solely based on its ability to extract labor from them, about how every religious organization is a cult and also values people based on how much labor they can extract, and how communism bases everything on maximizing productivity and extracting as much labor as it can from the people. All of us are focused on extracting more and more labor, as opposed to taking advantage of the wealth we have globally to make it so people have to work less. Our values are messed up.

Edit two: Communism and capitalism both can be critiqued as focusing on extracting labor. Didn’t make that clear in my last rant, but I did label it a rant, so that I really have to make it clear? I mean I told everyone in advance not to take me too seriously…

Yeah, but he’s about to jump in with both feet into the Israel-Iran war. I fully expect him to order one of those massive bunker buster bombs be dropped on the Iranian nuclear site, possibly overnight tonight. He’ll see it as a win/win and not see the quicksand he’s stepping into. Things will escalate against the US then with actual terrorist threats and he’ll declare martial law to keep the MAGAts in Congress. All in all doom for America…

That flyer was distributed around the Dallas metro area in the days prior to JFKs assassination. From after JFKs election to his assassination the region was a hot bed of wingnuttery. Groups as diverse as John Birchers to the Mink Coat riot ladies were a key ingredient in it and funded by the big oil and industrial oligarchs. It was ugly to the extent where administration officials were threatened by the locals. In many ways quite similar to today’s events.

It’s worse than that, I’d say. Here in Georgia a Medicaid work requirement has underperformed even the state’s lowly expectations for enrollment. I don’t have the numbers handy at the moment, but I want to say that the state expected maybe 25K enrollees, independent estimates suggested 250K were eligible, and maybe 7500 actually enrolled. So even those who do work they are actively trying to kill. (A link to a fairly old KFF article about just this: https://kffhealthnews.org/news/article/georgia-medicaid-work-requirement-red-tape/

When is a court going to do something about these BULLSHIT arrests… simply releasing those falsely arrested is NOT enough.

I was visiting Gettysburg, in Adams County, in early May this year (having grown up near there). On Saturday morning the main square in the downtown of the town became crowded with a few hundred people bearing signs in opposition to Trump’s policies, at that time heavily focused on DOGE and the tariff war. One of those protesting told me it’s a thing they do in Gettysburg. The tenor of the thing reminded me of the early days of the antiwar movement (I’m old enough to remember) and the “peace vigil” we used to have in my hometown. My favorite sign was one of complete exasperation:

Can someone please clarify, is the US now at war with Iran? I took a break to watch a couple of old movies, and may have missed the Truth.

Poor, poor, little MAGAT snowflakes.
They can’t stand anyone disagreeing with them.

Fuck them. Any act of violence against peaceful protestors will cause their support to decrease. They are on their way out. Keep up the pressure.
