Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) has what he calls a “simple and common sense” demand for the 50 states: reject the federal stimulus money signed into law by President Biden on Thursday.
“The Senate didn’t correct the fact that Florida is getting a lot less than what we would be entitled to on a per capita basis,” DeSantis said.
If only a state like Florida had a Senator or two that might have spent more time worrying about his constituents and less time tongue-bathing the former President.
Great initiative from Scott. As a corrupt, former healthcare executive, maybe he can also fix healthcare by urging fellow executives and shareholders to reject healthcare profits?
Scott told the Miami Herald that he’s traveling to Mar-a-Lago to ensure that Trump and the Republican Party “all row their boats in the same direction.”

The article should have added, “over a waterfall the size of Niagara.”
It sounds like Scott may have learned something from his fight with other Republicans over Obamacare.
If memory serves, Scott as a former healthcare executive saw Obamacare as a big chance to make a buck and so unlike other Republicans including the Florida legislature wanted to accept the money but the legislature for what are still baffling reasons refused.

That’s an odd way to say “traveling to Mar-a-Lago to get his marching orders.”
“It’s an attempt to force austerity on the country amid a Democratic trifecta and an administration that has so far been unwilling to buy into arguments that worries about the national debt should prevent much-needed spending from taking place.”
Well, yeah, and an attempt to make sure nobody in their states is saying “thank you” to Democrats. It’s quite the pickle they’re in now. They can either let it happen and take the money and watch the people in their states give credit to Dems because it’s due, all while the GQP tries to argue that no it’s not good, you shouldn’t be thankful, this is actually bad… OR…they can try to block it and/or make it ineffective while everyone watches them do so, then try to convince everyone it’s not their fault, that things are still bad and everyone in the state is still suffering because of Biden and that they honestly implemented the COVID relief bill but it just totally did not work at all. Meanwhile, blue states will be riding high and proving anything the GQP chooses to do or say along either of those lines to be complete and utter fucking batshit.
In the end, the real tell in terms of where they are politically and strategically is whether they choose “fuck, we’re stuck, just let it help people” or “further suffering followed by blaming Dems/Biden is our only chance.”
Is there another political party hell bent to be contrary as the Tepubs are. Their ugliness has and will cost lives. I can’t imagine any other party or person who would have the guts to admit they didn’t care about their constituents. Yet they continue to be elected. This is a strong disconnect and an indication how deeply troubled that party and its followers are.
