Republicans’ Two Very Different Approaches To Our Various Border ‘Crises,’ And To Trump’s Role In Them

Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) joined a small group of other Senate Republicans who are irritated at Donald Trump for spiking their immigration bill and criticized the former President’s approach to legislating — which is to say, not legislating on issues that Trump may want to use to whack President Biden with in the general election.

So shorter Chip Roy: Nice country you got there. Be a shame if somethin’ were to happen to it.

Was anyone really expecting anything different?

The Republican Party is a failed state and Trump is its warlord. And, yes, it’s official; full stop.

I say this respectfully. I say it with the fear of what I’m saying. I do not want to live in a post-constitutional world, but …

I want to preserve and protect the Republican form of government that our country is built upon, and I want a strong America standing in front of the American flag. But my first duty as an elected official is, yes to the Constitution, but …

But, but, but.

You blew your opportunity. We were ready to give you a shot, and you blew it,’” Cramer told CNN’s Manu Raju

Let’s just shorten it to "you blow " and leave it there…craven pathetic pretenders…playing at doing the serious work that should be part of their job responsibility.

So Donnie says: “Boys don’t do the deal until I’m back in the WH”. But what happens if he gets back in the WH and still won’t do a deal? He will complain that they, Congress, should have done a deal before the election.

Trump’s opposition to the bill being discussed has nothing to do with immigration and everything to do with Trump’s master, Vladimir Putin and his war with Ukraine.

And the Republican Party aims to make the United States a failed state and Trump its warlord in perpetuity.

Gee that sounds like a plan for American success, . . . doesn’t it. Like HELL it does.

And God help us all . . . . .and rest assured, neither Donal Trump nor Mike Johnson are God, or any other deity.

Reminds me of this classic. Trevor nailed it. As an African he recognized Trump right away.

Shame if some M1A1 tanks showed up at the park wearing US Army colors. Just driving test, boys.

How about Troy Nehls?

Said Nehls: “Why would I help Joe Biden approve his dismal 33% approval rating when he can fix the border and secure it on his own? He can secure it on his own through executive order.”

While waving around a cigar outside of the Capitol, he went on to cite Donald Trump’s slew of executive orders addressing immigration, many of which were ultimately found to be unconstitutional.

Those polling numbers sure are looking suspicious. Hope you choke on that cigar, Troy.

The longer this lingers, the worse it looks for Biden. Voters HATE weakness. He needs to send in the COE today and pull all that crap out and send Texas the bill. If Abbott orders the guard to resist, nationalize the guard and send it home. Can’t anybody here play this game?

I think that’s pretty much the bottom line.

Trump is a traitor.

Lock him up and don’t ever let him out. Not even when the bones have moldered.

He won’t care if Congess passes anything or not. Him getting back into the WH has nothing to do with “fixing” the border or addressing the problems in our immigration system (or basically any other actual policy goal).

The entire “illegals” and “border crisis” nonsense are simply means to an end. It is a boogeyman and political prop to scare and whip up votes for the GOP base to get back into power.

Sounds like they’re widening the scope of the McConnel rule; first it was no Supreme Court confirmations in an election year, now no border legislation. Maybe they’ll keep punting the budget too.

You’re right, but so is @lastroth. Trump will blame Congress. IOW the congressional Republicans are screwed either way.
