The $1 billion is appropriated “for the purposes of security adjustments and upgrades, including within the perimeter fence of the White House compound to support enhancements by the United States Secret Service relating to the East Wing Modernization project,” the bill reads.

So the free ballroom will now cost a billion dollars of taxpayer money. I demand the first dance.

A Democratic House and Congress could not pass legislation withdrawing funds? It would require passing with a veto-proof obviously but is it possible or is this somehow legislative black magic that once done cannot be undone?

Because the legislation would fund immigration operations for three years, through the end of Trump’s term, experts have argued that they will deprive congressional Democrats of a key mechanism for oversight and accountability if the party retakes the House or Senate in 2026.
