Republicans Can Dodge Town Halls, But We’ve Seen This Playbook Before

Hide all they want; we always find 'em…

they’ll have to hope that history isn’t repeating itself, that the protests aren’t merely a symptom of an underlying anger that will express itself at the ballot box sooner rather than later.

The R’s are fucked in the midterms, but will it be soon enough?

So….the Federal Govt. Is going to put a bunch of old buildings into the real estate office marketplace, when office occupancy rates are at historic lows ?? WTF ?? Who, exactly, are they going to sell them too ??? It’s no wonder Trump went bankrupt 6 times - he is a fucking moron - Rex was right !!!

I believe he is selling them to the Russians.

Josh says these protests are a “harbinger of elections to come.”

What if there won’t be another election? What if part of the reason the RNCC is doing this is because they are willing to gamble there won’t be another election where they will have to face voters?

Regardless of whether or not you think the RNCC is thinking that strategically or diabolically, I think Josh and many others are dangerously naive in their ongoing assumptions about the certainty that there will be future elections. Trump’s destruction of the Constitution and our norms of governance are moving rapidly. I am struck that we are not already talking about where all that is inexorably, quickly heading: suspension of elections, or at least, fair elections. And with a supine Congress, feckless and corrupt courts, there is nothing to stop Trump from doing that. Trump will put down mass protests with violence–he’s itching to do that. Tell me I’m wrong, please.

Trump, after his speech, behind closed doors.

Lets hope it goes beyond that…

Entirely predictable the moment the ignorant electorate gave him the keys to the kingdom…the law couldnt stop him despite endless violations…the courts propped him up…Congress is a rubber stamp…the Dems have yet to devise a plan to at least mitigate whats occurring.

Oh, but it gets better.

Employees all across the Civil Service are getting Return to Office orders. I happen to know that in the Philadelphia District Office of the Army Corps of Engineers, that’s effective 10 March 2025. Here in Cincinnati, the VA hospital admin people are already back in the office (without much reason for the back-office folks).

So, they’re requiring all the GS-types to get their asses back in the office as they plan to sell their office space out from underneath them.

As they say in German, Die rechte Hand weiss nicht, was die linke tut. Pithier version: they are idiots.

ETA: The surplus property list Josh linked to is now empty (and labeled, “Coming Soon”).

Trump is the dumbest real estate mogul ever.
ETA: Why not sell off the Supreme Court? They’ve already ruled that DonOLD is above the law.

I don’t whether to sad or glad that DonOLD is stupid as shit.

From the Politico article:

What’s staying? GSA emphasized that it will retain properties deemed critical to government operations, including courthouses, land ports of entry, and facilities essential to national defense and law enforcement.

Once upon a time, in what seems another lifetime now, I worked for USDA’s Statistical Reporting Service. We were housed in a Federal Courthouse. The building was leased by GSA, not owned by the Government.

I think selling off the Supreme Court to the highest bidder sounds like an excellent idea. I hear there is a slave auction block in Charleston, SC that is currently unused. Or perhaps there is one in the holdings of the Smithsonian’s Museum of African-American History?

Comparing DonOLD to uncomposted chicken manure is unfair. Unfair to the manure.

Yeah chicken manure can be used to feed cattle, which can then infect cattle with bird flu.

When you ask the Dems to do something, anything, to stop Trump they mostly will tell you: “Ask the Republicans.” So people are doing that, and predictably not getting answers.

Can we stop pretending that democracy exists, and act accordingly?

With all due respect, I believe you misspelled Mongol, or perhaps it’s supposed to be mongrel?

If I’m incorrect on that, someone please install that dumbest mogul ever on a freestyle ski course. I’d even learn to ski at age 70 just so I could ski off his fat ass.
