Right wing media has not shown the close ups that places like TPM have, where the violence that occurred is clearly evident. They ignore the entire thing, or only show the bits that look like a “friendly gathering” where insurrectionists are singing the national anthem or whatever. And, they also say that the police just let them in, since the Capitol is public property. All of this is meant to make it seem like the insurrection was just a peaceful protest…maybe a few people got rowdy, but “that was much worse in the summer with BLM riots burning shops!”
It really is an alternate reality, created by right wing media and pushes by Republican leadership. They are desperately claiming nothing happened that day, and trying to erase it…they want the average American to see the two things as equivalent so they win in 2022.
