Republicans Are Targeting Voting Rights Groups With Election Laws

The 2020 election may be remembered for Donald Trump’s attempt to steal a second term in the White House, but there’s another fundamental truth about the last election: Tens of millions of people voted amid a historic pandemic, largely without a hitch. In other words, it went well. Really well.

Is this really OT here? At least in a sense, I don’t think so.

And yet in the cases of actual voter fraud no where was there a Voting Rights group involved.

Are we surprised?

Nope.

More on topic:
I distinctly remember where I got nabbed by the League of Women Voters and registered to vote. They had a table set up in the hallway outside my high school library. They were asking everyone if they would be 18 by the next election in Nov. I said yes, I signed my name, I don’t think I even showed them my DL since I signed under penalty of perjury that the information I gave was true and accurate.

I’m pretty sure that they haven’t been allowed on campus since after Columbine, you know because of security. My HS was many separate buildings with outdoor walkways and a quad. Stupid California architecture firm gave us a California climate type school instead of Midwestern school campus where we have snow.

I can’t remember the more recent black woman’s name who got nabbed in TN (?). She asked if she was eligible, the parole people said yes. She went to register, they BOE accepted her registration, and then oops the parole people gave her bad advise.

But because there was high turnout in large urban areas…

a phrase that strikes fear in the hearts of fascists nationwide.

They cannot abide a true democracy, or even the not so democratic version of democracy that we live with. I’m referencing our electoral college system and the senate makeup both of which favor conservatives (in today’s political climate, fascists).

Even those built in advantages aren’t enough to satisfy them, so crippling their opponents right to even vote is a holy crusade for those of an ilk.

Perhaps you mean Crystal Mason, of Texas? Was out on probation, asked the voting person if she was eligible, was told “yes” so she caste a provisional ballot. She was sentenced to five years, but she’s out on bail and still working her appeals.

On today’s episode of “This Is Why The Country Can’t Be Fixed”…

(note: “horizontal” is because they want you to have to get in your car and buy gas to go anywhere)

" Two decades ago, an ideology called “Seven Mountains Dominionism” was considered so fringy that it was never allowed near the podium with Republican political leaders. Now, that very same ideology is a heartbeat away from everything that happens in the Republican Party. This year, in fact, the Road to Majority featured a breakout session titled “The Seven Mountains of Influence.”

Seven Mountains dominionism is the conviction that Christians of a certain hyperconservative variety should rightfully dominate the main peaks of modern civilization in the United States and, ultimately, the world. The ideology reportedly got its start in 1975, when Loren Cunningham, a missionary leader, and Bill Bright, the founder of Campus Crusade for Christ (now known as “Cru”), allegedly heard messages from God urging them to invade the “seven spheres” of society, which by their reckoning included government, media, education, business, entertainment, religion, and family. According to the late C. Peter Wagner, a key proponent of the ideology, the responsibility of Christians to take over “whatever molder of culture or subdivision God has placed them in” is really a matter of “taking dominion back from Satan.”

“…in order for Christ to return to earth, the church must take control of the seven spheres of influence in society”:

  1. Education
  2. Religion
  3. Family
  4. Business
  5. Gov’t/Military
  6. Arts/Entertainment
  7. Media"

Starting to understand the “CRT” and “trans” and “don’t say gay” and book burning nonsense now? Yeah…IT’S NUMBER FUCKING ONE ON THE LIST. How about them buying up all the “news” outlets of any kind, especially local news to control what you hear and see and think? You think they’re not actively using their riches to only allow fellow Christian dominionists to get wealthy? To effectively operate as though a certain level of wealth is “heaven” and that they and only they control the “gates”? Why “religious freedom” is being twisted violently by the FedSoc stuffed courts to mean “white Christians don’t have to obey laws they don’t like, especially when they don’t like that those laws are forcing them to treat inferior subhumans, heathens and sinners as equals”? You think they’re not in the upper echelons of the law enforcement, the intel community and military already…all throughout the Pentagon?

WAKE UP PEOPLE! THEY ARE WAGING WAR ON YOU! L.I.T.E.R.A.L.L.Y.

The only way out will be THROUGH them, not around. They are making sure of that. Be armed. These freaks are not going to stop unless forced to and then controlled.

ETA: Understand through their idolization of Putin and his achievement of a white Christian ethno-state, their jealousy and envy of it, their blatant and increasingly overt attempts to learn from and mimic what Putin has done and is doing…understand by analogy PRECISELY where the GQP Trump KKKult wants this to end up:

“The rest of us” are Ukraine…and we will either submit or be eradicated. Nothing in between shall be accepted.

Nope here it is

In the TX case she cast a provision ballot, not counted. In TN she tried to register to vote after getting the wrong info. So neither one actually voted as opposed to the people in Bennen story. Who all happen to be men, and white.

Now for the ironic part…

History will remember the reaction of the defenders. Border guard Roman Hrybov famously replied to demands to surrender “ Russian warship, go F** yourself!* “. The warship sitting off the island was none other than Moskva , the most powerful warship in the Black Sea.

More, please!

Only a matter of time before the Right is allowed to fire on voting rights groups. There’ll be no repercussions because… reasons.

It’s time to stand up to these thugs.

Not to mention Mark Meadows, who had his registration revoked and that’s probably all that will happen to him. Watch him find a way to register properly in another State and still be able to vote; watch these two women have their franchise revoked for life.

The thing is if, big IF, they succeed then they’ll move the goal posts. That seems to be the way with Christian dominionists. Instead of them struggling to live their version of Christianity amongst us heathens, they insist that all of us must get in line. Almost sounds like a Amway sales scheme.

Ooopsie…

Guess Mr James was after the tip reward…

Suspect in Brooklyn subway shooting called in the Crime Stoppers tip that caught him, sources say

From CNN’s Brynn Gingras and Mark Morales

The suspect in the Brooklyn subway shooting called in a tip to Crime Stoppers that led to his capture, two law enforcement sources tell CNN.

Frank James called in the tip to the police and told them he was at a McDonald’s on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the sources confirmed.

At an earlier news conference Wednesday, an NYPD official said the tip indicated the suspect was at a McDonald’s on 6th Street and 1st Avenue.

Police responded to the McDonald’s and did not find James, the police official said.

But upon driving around they spotted him on the corner of St. Mark’s Place and 1st Avenue and arrested him, officials said at the news conference.

Can voting groups being attacked be considered an infringement on free speech? Are they doing more than wanting more than just more people to vote using words to get them out?

I’m pretty sure that’s how I registered to vote in high school. When the likes of a Bond villain like Hans Von Spakovsky and others who want to restrict the franchise go after the League of Women Voters they’re literally attacking mom and apple pie.

That’s not moving the goalposts. That’s EXPLICITLY where they are right now already. That’s the entire point of Christian dominionism, the “Seven Mountains” crap and the Ziklag theo-plutocratic organization. This should not be considered hidden or surreptitious anymore. It is right out in the open. As far as they are concerned, they are turning the USA into a permanent minority-rules white supremacist Christian dominionist ethno-state hegemony NO MATTER WHAT MUST BE DONE TO ACHIEVE IT. It has been decreed by GOD that it MUST BE MADE SO…that all of the Bible and their beliefs cannot be or become true unless and until they first do so. Nobody should be confused about that any longer. The Zombie Fourth Estate shouldn’t be handling it with kid gloves or refusing to call it what it is…or ignoring it outright out of fear of the wealth-power wielded by the group’s leaders, members and connections. The organization, the people, the movement, the beliefs described in those articles are what should be keeping you up at night. They are coming for you, for your spouses, for your children, for your families, for everything you hold dear because they have deemed all of those things and people to be unholy obstacles standing in the way of what is rightfully theirs.

Anyway…what’s the point…let’s just keep yelling about pronouns and pantsuits, proudly declaring ourselves socialists and marxists to own the cons and then registering protest votes or non-votes as the case may be. Clearly, it’s working fucking wonders. And hey, at least if it ultimately fails, we’ll be able to look ourselves in the mirror…if our holding cell has one…and pat ourselves on the back for dying on the altar of “principles.”

People need to stop telling themselves comforting stories about whatever it is…the GQP’s fascism, the end of democracy in America, law enforcement starting to lean into authoritarianism…all being part of some hypothetical dystopian future. It’s not. IT IS FUCKING HERE ALREADY.

@grants
It seems that they want all new voters and those changing their registration to go the county BOE. Now where I live that may be a hassle, but not a major BIG FUCKING expedition.
I’m sure buried within these new piece of legislation there is not an increase in the BOE budget to hire more people, even at a temporary job to handle all the work of processing all voters registering or transferring their registration to their new address and residence.
And God forbid that they analyze the data, and see the number of people that turned out to vote in 2020 was increased across the board. Can’t have that happening again.

Sometimes, instead of thinking like lawyers we need to think like political science majors.

That is who cares if it is illegal, have a 90 year old woman, might even be better if she were Black, get arrested for helping someone vote. Film the arrest, especially the part where they handcuff her, and blast it all over twitter and other media.

To the extent people are persuadable, seeing grandma in handcuffs for advancing democracy cannot be bad for democracy.
