Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) is mulling a challenge to the New York Republican who is poised to replace Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), his colleague who was unceremoniously ousted as conference chair on Wednesday.
It’s the battle of the 21st districts! Let’s have a look. On the one hand New York’s 21st, pretty normal looking, not too many weird borders there. But wait! It’s pressed up against Canada! I’ll bet Stefanik is a closet socialist, sneaking across the border for her health care.
Then there’s Texas’ 21st district, mostly ordinary, boundaries following county lines… until you get to the southeast corner, where the whole shitpile turns into a gas can overfilling a car, with the spashes reaching all the way to parts of San Antonio and Austin. And Texas has Ted Cruz, who everyone knows was born eligible to be premier of Canada, so there’s another closet socialist angle.
I sometimes lurk over at Breitbart to read the comments on top stories and issues. I was surprised to see a strong pushback against Stefanik among staunch MAGAts. Chip Roy is tapping that.
According to Punchbowl News, Roy, who is a member of the House Freedom Caucus, is considering the challenge amid criticism from some far-right Republicans that Stefanik’s voting record has not been conservative enough to carry the GOP’s true message.
That’s all fine and dandy, but, the only thing that matters is whether or not you are willing to kiss Chiselin’ Trump’s assring.
“I believe our goal should be to fight, as did President Trump, for the forgotten men and women of America, to throw sand into the gears of every radical effort put forth by Democrats who don’t give a rip about them,” he wrote
Sayeth man who voted against the last relief bill, is for arms sales to SA, and Heavens to Betsy Khashoggi’s murder shouldn’t get in the way of our ability to make money with MBS.
A lot of his work history places him squarely in the swampy section of politics.
McCarthy was hoping to use Stefanik as a shield - “See, we replaced a woman with a woman. And she’s from New York. And nobody likes the Cheneys much anyway. See - we aren’t radical nut jobs after all - vote for us!”
But the Tea Party ARE the apex radical nut jobs in the GOP - and they’re always quick to demand concessions and special treatment from the GOP - even pre-trump.
So, they’re demanding a white male nut job from their caucus take Cheney’s place - the heck with appearances.
I think President Trump needs to offer some sort of reason for his endorsement. I’m a strong supporter of American First Agenda, but his picks for top spots at times puzzle me. Supporting the Democrat “Equality Act” is a big red flag for Stefanik. Christians see that as an attack on religious liberty. It may be too late, but that issue will not go away without explanation or assurances by Stefanik to not stray there again… If not, we are installing another divider.
Note what they did to Austin on the district map. The Rove redistricting in 2002 as well as the post 2010 tea bagger takeover of Texas carved up Austin like a starfish, otherwise if it was left compact and contiguous they would have a couple of Democratic districts.
