The White House is preparing for defections from Republican senators when it comes time to vote on calling witnesses to testify in the Senate impeachment trial, according to a new report.
McSally, Tillis, Collinsā¦once you get to 4, youāll prob get to 6-7 and then look out Romneyās walking up to the White House to give Orange Foolius the coldest plate of revenge ever served.
Come on Madam Speaker, fill in that Straight Flush!
⦠and then what? Trump exercises fictionalized āexecutive prerogativeā forbidding said individuals to discuss āprivileged mattersā ⦠and takes it to court ⦠then what?
Many people are saying Yertle is planning for a surprise trial change of venue to a Bowling Green Knights of Columbus Hall, with a seating capacity of around 54 and no internet service.
Those defections wonāt last long unless they are among Senators whoāve already decided not to run in November and have nothing to lose.
@callmeeric, I could see Bolton testifying, for better or for worse, and then Manchin moving the goalposts because it wasnāt a āperfectā testimony.
I donāt believe the guy as far as I can throw him.
Their preparation will be for Trump to demand that the witnesses the Democrats call say nothing due to āabsolute privilegeā, and then expect Roberts and the SC to back him up, followed by Republicans getting the Bidens, Schiff, and whoever else on the stand. Itās complete garbage for them to go for this, but I expect them to block any witnesses, either through the vote or by other meansā¦proper testimony by witnesses who know what Trump did is going to end either with massive shock against Trump or perjury by the witness, thereās no other way it would go. Republicans will do everything they can to make sure the American people arenāt confronted with witnesses, because they know they are doomed otherwise.
⦠the ones with irreversible brain damage - never ā¦
the ones with a home district filled with angry white supremacists ⦠they will only change their tune after they have made their fortune and moved on to retire somewhere else.
Letās not forget the Speaker threw down the gauntlet yesterday. If Republicans want to have a perfunctory trial, sheāll call Bolton, and perhaps others, to the a House to testify. Just a little something for them to mull over.
Itās not as if the House canāt go back and continue their investigation, though itās not their preference to be sure.
I can see Manchin voting for witnesses (as most Americans want), then voting against conviction, depending on which way the wind is blowing, to pacify his WV constituents.
