President Donald Trump warned Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr not to rally other Republican officials against a Texas lawsuit seeking to toss out the state’s election results, the Atlanta-Journal Constitution reported late Wednesday.
Loeffler and Perdue are all-in on this lawsuit. They should seriously be asked how they feel about succession, since GA will loose the support they currently receive from blue states, even some of the rubes might care. (Long shot I know, but maybe)
AG would have to defend his state in SCOTUS or resign. Mafia tactics. This is the most bizarre petition in history. Texas has no standing; if it did, any state could sue to block whatever another state decides to do. Nothing “inter-state here. Just secede already.
As TPM has already pointed out several times, these calls can by themselves be considered illegal acts directed at undermining free and fair democratic elections in the United States. Any person making these pressure calls could be charged with a crime and even more so if the person forms part of the US government, with the more integral the person is to the US government, the greater the crime. These call reports and copies need to be preserved for evidence now.
We have family with us through the Inauguration (at least) for exactly this reason but, for exactly this reason, you mis-judge me if you think I’'ve been staying away from the cellar all this time.
Well, we could hope for some similarity in this further regard:
(from Wikipedia) Herod died in Jericho,[11] after an excruciatingly painful, putrefying illness of uncertain cause, known to posterity as “Herod’s Evil”
But on Wednesday, Trump still asked the high court to let his campaign join the Texas lawsuit which some Democrats have suggested is part of a broader effort by the attorney general in Texas to curry favor for a pardon from Trump before he leaves office.
The real reason behind Paxton’s lawsuit, currying favor with Trump for a pardon.
The FBI’s interest in Texas’ top law enforcement official arose from a rebellion by Paxton’s top deputies, who accused him of breaking the law by using his office to help a wealthy donor with a troubled real estate empire who also hired a woman with whom the married Paxton allegedly had an affair.
I saw something that says the 11th Amendment makes this dead in the water.
Anyone else heard that?
