Former President Trump directed boxes of government records to be moved around Mar-a-Lago after receiving a grand jury subpoena, the Washington Post reports.
This sounds so crazy it must be true! What normal person would do that? Apparently, 4+ years of successfully avoiding any accountability convinced Mr. Trump that he is invincible and untouchable by any authorities.
It’s such pure, distilled Trump. Attempt to obstruct… but do it in the dumbest way possible, by moving the documents to different rooms on the same property.
Anyone want to bet that ends up being part of his defence? “Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, my client is known to be bigly smart and to have a very good brain (flashes result of Montreal Cognitive Assessment) – if he was reallllly trying to obstruct, don’t you think he would have done a better job?”
You gov’t, can’t treat Trump like a functioning politician of old. He thinks he is never wrong, only being wronged. The FBI followed SOP when going to get the documents from MAL, and he claimed he was raided. This time DO IT! Raid the place. Search MAL from top to bottom, then all of his other clubs that he has been to in the last two years.
And then do it like in the Blues Brothers operation when they go to pay the taxes on the orphanage. And to mix movie metaphors Dalton says “it’s time not to be nice”.
I’ve always suspected the DOJ had video evidence of movement of the boxes. But I still can’t imagine Trump would have lifted a box of documents himself. Hell, he has trouble lifting a glass of water to his lips.
OK, I guess the question now is when the hell is our candy-assed Attorney General and the DOJ going to MAL with handcuffs. It’s time for the Orange Asshole’s perp-waddle. Please dear God, let him resist and be shot trying to get to his golf cart. Sad!
Oh this is exactly correct. Trump was counting on Garland just giving up. I’m sure he even told people that exact thing. I can hear him, “If he wants these documents let him come get them! Garland doesn’t have the balls.”
Trump is going to be indicted. For me the question is whether it will be for all the crimes Garland can prove beyond a reasonable doubt, or just the one’s related to the MAL document theft.
