As his court battles fizzle, President Donald Trump has been grabbing for straws — desperately considering ways to intervene in the incoming Biden administration as reality settles in. His latest efforts according to a report from the Daily Beast on Saturday include more detailed discussions about a possible second run by the outgoing leader against President-elect Joe Biden including a possible 2024 campaign launch and an Inauguration Day event.
It’s becoming clearer to me that Trump would prefer to see the two GA GOP Senators lose. I don’t think he can personally take that he’s a loser while Mitch keeps the Senate and GOP makes gains in the House. From a political positioning standpoint, it would be easier to run against a unified Dem gov’t than a divided gov’t. Perdue and Loeffler losing also make the GOP more dependent on Trump, as he can say that only he can deliver the turnout needed to beat the Dems. He can also blame his loss on GOP establishment big wigs who didn’t rally behind him strongly enough.
He can showcase the opening of a strip mall used car lot, for all I care. Anything that takes his contagious ass away from the scene of the inauguration.
On that very same day he should be served with his arrest warrant(s) for his various financial crimes by NYS. I think he believes he can’t be prosecuted if he continues to run for president. Then on the other hand if he helps fracture and destroy the GOP by sucking the rest of the life out of them should we just let him believe its possible. I’m torn…
He is going to have to get more and more outrageous to get attention when he is no longer POTUS. It will make a great case study of what happens when a malignant narcissist loses power. In six months, it will be, meh Trump did --------, who cares and that will kill him.
So wherever Trump decided to hold his launch party, the establishment and city need to get their security monies upfront and declare them non-refundable.
Not to mention the wealthy GOP establishment who actively campaigned against him . . . like the Lincoln Project. I’d be willing to bet that if he declares his intent to run again, we will continue to be entertained by the cleverness of TLP broadsides against Drumpf.
I would love to see Trump mount a serious 2024 campaign, considering what it would do to split the GOP. But I don’t think Baby Jesus loves us that much.
He’ll find some way to continue rallies, but more as a media/grifting operation where he won’t have to abide by campaign finance rules.
