On Wednesday, President Donald Trump spoke out against Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp’s (R) plan to allow businesses in the Peach State to reopen – but only because the medical experts on his COVID-19 task force reportedly had managed to persuade him to so.
This is the reading-notes-off-a-card phase of Trump policymaking.
In two days he’ll reverse himself completely, spontaneously and enthusiastically.
And whatever happens, he’ll have been right.
Pure Trump messaging…gauge the reaction (negative to both Trump and Kemp) and put the whole thing on the docs…
Which tells me that he knows all about the rapids coming his way
I just hope it was a coal-fired cattle prod…
I’m sure someone did have to prod him into it in that moment. But make no mistake, eventually he takes all sides of every issue. The first hint of bad news would have gotten a ‘I told him it was a bad idea’.
Well the unemployment numbers tsunami is really gonna float his boat.
I saw an excerpted portion of that on TV and it seemed obvious it didn’t have the usual spontaneity of a real tRump walk-back. He was reading from a script on the podium in that dull, drab, lifeless voice of his that has trouble reading anyway, before he ended it with a comment, not on his crib sheet, saying something to the effect, “but he can do whatever he thinks is best for GA.” That last statement by him (off script) was more like the tRump we’ve all come to know and loathe.
Task Force Experts Had To Prod Trump Into Saying Reopening GA Was A Bad Idea
So that means that Trump will be saying how a smart and brave Kemp is later today.
But he nevertheless still loves people who frequent tattoo and massage parlors.
Because Lions and Tigers and Bikers. Oh my!
And whatever happens, he’ll have been right.
No spike in cases: “I was right to let him do it.”
Big spike in cases: “I was right to disagree with him.”
It’s called “leadership”…
Trump intuitively knows what will happen to the markets if Brix and Fauci publicly dispute him, or, even more drastically, they were to resign.
It’s all about the brand.
It hit Trump like a ton of Brix.
Well, Trump has that Zombie Staying Power©. I wonder if Fauci and Brix can outlast ZombieStupid®.
Subsequently, Birx reportedly spoke to Trump and
successfullymomentarily changed his mind on the issue before he stepped up to the podium.
FIFY!
If he’s at all flexible on a subject, he’ll parrot the last person he talked to.
“But I told him I totally disagree.”
Reporter: “When did you tell him?”
Chiselin’ Trump: “Well, just now. If he’s listening.”
And it was “perfect.”
That look on Fauci’s face is priceless! Death-glare, anyone? 
Definitely not a “Trump Rally” voice.
With the numbers heading his way, Trump has no choice but to stay on the virus news-beat.
No choice whatsoever.
