Yeah, why not? His career will be in tatters and he won’t be able to run for office again, anywhere. His reputation as a suck-up will be the headline of his obituary. The minions don’t have any interest in him. It’ll be interesting to see, first, if he gets a pardon and, second, if there was any reason for him to need a pardon. This guy was a true VP - all hat and no cattle.

It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if they do it, but I also don’t know why Pence would go along. Yes, it would most likely help him get through the primary in 2024. However, it would destroy him in the general election especially considering all that is likely to be uncovered over the next four years and all the insane stuff Trump will do during that time.

I don’t think anything that’s been done in this maladministration has been “strategic.” They’re not playing three-dimensional chess; they’re not even up to rock-paper-scissors. Pence just want to get the hell out of town so he doesn’t have to deal with the final meltdown.

A little history:
Calvin Coolidge took the oath of office, I believe administered by his father. Was in his living room.
Don’t know that there’s any precedent for insisting Pence be in DC to take the oath.
